Kenya used the old South African shillings “s” and pence “d” until 1966 when they changed to Kenyan currency...
The British way of writing the money was L1 2s 6d for One pound 2 shillings and 6 pence...
(The pound sign had a stroke or two through it)
6d became 5c in NZ when the currency was changed in 1966
If that BC was only 6d it was cheap but by 1964 standards it was probably about 50c..
Or it the cost some amount of pounds and shillings and then 6d ??
it was 7s 6d my research shows kenya used c instead of d since 1921.
If you look, the price on the BC shows 7s 6d which is 7 shillings and 6 pence..From what I remember back in England in 1964 “seven and a tanner” was quite a sum
It actually says 7s 6d.
7 shillings 6 pence.
Don’t know how much a shilling is worth, but it definitely cost more that 50 cents.
Thank you for clarifying that Nana. I had asked a question on it a few minutes ago.
