Donald Young, a vibrant, charismatic choir director at one of Chicago's largest open and affirming black congregations, Trinity United Church of Christ, was found shot to death this past Sunday in his home. Young,47, was a longtime member of Trinity's choir, initially singing bass and then moving up the ranks to become one of its most electrifying and popular directors.

He was also a faithful attendee at the conferences of the Gospel Music Workshop of America. The details about why and exactly how he died remain unclear; there is, however, one story that emerges with some semblance of clarity: a longtime choir member and a sometime visitor of the church, both in their early 20's, were dating and Donald became interested in the sometime visitor.

After the break-up of the choir member and the visitor, Young began to date the sometime member. In jealousy and anger, the choir member went to Donald's home and shot him. In an eerie twist of events, the choir member, who was trailed to the frequent Trinity visitor's home by police, questioned and released, sat in the audience the very same Sunday that Mr.Young's death was announced. Young was well liked and the announcement provoked a shocked gasp from the congregation.

A wake for Young will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the church. A funeral service follows at 11 a.m.

You know what always gets me about gays? They want so much to be taken seriously, but every one of their publications I’ve seen has half naked people all over them, including the front pages.

I guess it’s part of the sexual problem they all have that they can’t stop thinking about weird sexual relations, even in their news media.

i find it sad the reward offered for information leading to an arrest is a mere $1,000. am i out of touch? has the amount been increased? Donald was the beloved choir director at the Trinity United Church of Christ....the same church who has issued a $10 million line of credit on the new home of the Reverend Jeremiah Wright. my heart goes out to Donald’s family and friends.

Donald Young told Obama that he needed to tell the truth about something, so he had him murdered. A $1000.00 reward is obsurd! Obama was close to young and with all of his money, he didn’t put up more of a reward. Wake up everyone!!! Just remember, if you defend Obama; you are disrespecting a great man, “Donald Young”!! Do what you want, but Obama had him murdered and Rev. Wright knows about it. That’s why Obama didn’t disown Wright, in the very beginning. Once Wright went on his little speaking tour, Obama went to see him that night and said, “if you want me to be president, you need to stop”. Wright was hurt because of Obama’s disowning his comments and that’s why he did it. His anger got the best of him. Wright agreed and Obama disowned him completely! Notice that you haven’t seen Wright lately? If he was so angry about Obama disowning his comments, why do you think that Wright SUDDENLY isn’t upset about disowning him completely? REST IN PEACE DONALD!!

it is truly tragic that this inspiring man had his life taken from him. for all who knew him I hope you will honor his life and his memory. this whole scene unfolding at TUCC with Wright and Obama and now the revelations of this murder is DESPICABLE. why aren’t more people appalled at this mere $1000 reward? this has dirty Chicago politics written all over it.

The article seemed to go out of its way not to mention the gender of the “sometime visitor” this man was dating. Seemed to be written just a little wierd.

Hm, I don't know, what's up with this "story" on this unsolved crime?

To me, the significant factoids are that 1) a Mr. Young was the member of the Obama Camapign who first responded to Larry Sinclair after he phoned them in Sept. 2007 requesting Obama admit that he has used cocaine since his teenage years, and that 2) the Mr. Young knew that Sinclair and Obama had engaged in homosex, even though Sinclair had never mentioned it.

Shortly after several phone calls and text messages between Mr. Young and Larry Sinclair during Sept.-Dec., 2007, Donald Young turns up dead. Larry Sinclair gets no more messages from Mr. Young; and the Chicago police have seemed reluctant to find out who killed Donald Young or why.

Plus, two other gay men from Trinity UCC were murdered in early 2008: Larry Bland and Nate Spencer.
