How can a mother be so detached from her child?
I can’t imagine “forgetting” a child is in the backseat like this ... . This “forgetting” is happening way to often with death as the result.
Come on, she works at Hooters. It is not like she is intelligent enough to remember to take the bay to daycare. Not only that she spends the next seven hours with other Hooters girls and customers who are just as stupid as she.

Until this happened she probably would have said the same thing.
I don't believe that we are being completely informed. My money says that there were drugs involved- Did the cops test her- and can they even test after 7 hours?
I can afford some pity. I notice no father was mentioned in the story--
Actually I had a close call like this--drove into the garage with my sleeping infant, decided I'd go put the icecream away before I woke the baby up. Once in the kitchen, I got distracted with what I was going to make for dinner. Ten minutes later, I heard the outraged howling from the garage.
Unnerving. There is nothing so distracting as taking care of children, and nothing so fatal to children as distractibility.
Sorry forgot to add you to post #162. ~Pandora~

You’re right. Children, and I include the unborn, have been displaced to an unusual priority in our society. They are objects for political rhetoric, accessories to vanity, sexual pleasures for the depraved, inconvenience byproducts of sex, subjects of indoctrination, jewels in the crown, and the kids you might see after work or during the weekend. And on occasion, the child who’s left alone to die by a negligent single parent.
I also have choice thoughts for the grand parents that choose to look the other way in the face of struggling or ignorant parents.
Everyone’s got an excuse, but no excuse is worth the welfare or innocence of a child or grandchild for that matter.
