How can a mother be so detached from her child?

I can’t imagine “forgetting” a child is in the backseat like this ... .

I can’t imagine it either, especially in Phoenix, where you wouldn’t leave an adult in a car for ten minutes.

When my son was less than two, we took him to Phoenix, where his sister was competing in a swim meet over Memorial Day week-end. I ended up stuck in the air conditioned hotel room for three days because he was unable to tolerate the high temperature outside.

“How can a mother be so detached from her child?”

I think the following about covers it;

“Ashly Duchene, 22, left her son in her car when she arrived at the north Phoenix Hooters restaurant where she works”

This is troubling. Still, most 17 month old babes can cry and scream. I’m surprised that no one heard the child. Another unintended consequence of tight buckle ups and the law not allowing front seat seating.

There are mornings I am so tired from taking care of a sick kid that Im in a haze until about 11.. Right now Im more stuck with pity for the mother than anger...

Ive never forgotten to drop off my kid at day care but I can imagine how it could happen..

I don’t buy the “I forgot” excuse. We know too well that woman do kill their children. I believe this is just a try to make it look like an accident to avoid 1st degree murder charges.

When I was raising mine at least one was up in the front seat. When they started making folks put these babies in the backseat this is when we started hearing all of these stories of the little ones being left in the car.

"How can a mother be so detached from her child?"

how can a mother let herself be a panderer for the lowest kind of trashy behavior for an equally trashy public?

now that's the question.....

Well, right about 2/3 of these incidents are directly tracable to laws which require small children to be placed in the back seat. Which 2/3, I can't say, but there was a constant level before the laws, a tripling of incidents over a couple of years, and a stable level thereafter.

I can't believe a mother could do this.

She would have to think: Care center, then work.
