Huh? Where’d all that come from?

You don't like Harry Potter. We get it.

And because apparently you didn't understand what I wrote the first time, I'll quote myself. I'll even put the important parts in bold!:

If you have something you want to contribute to the discussion- other then we are all a bunch of idiots for reading books that you don’t approve of- then we would love to hear it.

If you are just here to bash us and bash the series, then please move along. No one is suddenly going to go, “Oh my God! Neoliberalnot is right! They ARE dumb!”

And, once again, thanks for bumping our thread!

I have read part of the first. Sorry, I wasn’t really trying to insult but some people have different opinions. Most video games out there are also about good v evil.

I thought when he said "Look...at...me" he was imploring Harry to "see the real me" when he put his thoughts into the pensieve.

That is what I thought, too.

My Walmart had the book the cheapest. No line, no fuss, just good service.

As far as I can tell, this is an open forum and just because I don’t share the fantasy obsession doesn’t mean I can’t post. Reality remains.

It seemed quite certain that she was pandering.

Um...she wrote the ending 17 years ago and had it locked in a safe deposit box after the series got popular (pre-movie popular). I doubt she was "pandering".

For example, the wizards and witches from Beauxbatons in France?

I thought some came. Didn't the flying coach show up with whats-her-face the half giant lady?

That was for Dumbledore’s funeral in “Half-Blood Prince.”

Post all you want. We just find it amusing that you've spent so much time on something that doesn't matter to you.

Oh, good! What great last words ~ I would want the same thing.
Or maybe I’d just want to warn someone about the rotten cucumbers in the fridge, or when to pick up the dry cleaning ~ important stuff like that.

Consistency, they say, is a bugaboo of small minds. :-)

Little things like that just bother me, like a dripping faucet: Why do wizards have flush toilets, but not pencils, for example? Why do they have radios, but not televisions or telephones?

(I know, just shut up and clean something ...)

Has Alan Rickman done a lot of audio books? I’ll have to do a search on amazon...

If you find out which ones please post them. I love his voice. :)

I want to know, too!!

Also, I wonder why none of the other wizards throughout the world never came to the aid of the British wizards after Voldemort and the Death Eaters had taken over?

That'd be an interesting psychoanalytic question for Rowling to answer. It's probably not a conscious thing.

I'm thinking it's a cultural British/Scots "take care of your own" mindset. I'm betting she never really even considered having "non-locals" come to help.

And perhaps she even sees the modern-day UK as already being in the grips of a corporate state that is less evil, but just as repressive as that in the final book ... and the shape of the final battle maybe represents her wish that the normal British people would finally wake up and take a hand once more in their own freedom. (That would definitely be the Scotswoman in her....)

I don’t like video games, children should be outdoors exploring and playing - running and jumping for real, not make believe. Boys have always played cowboys and Indians, or cops and robbers.......but video games waste hours of their youth at a time. Books, however challenge their minds and their reading and comprehension skills. It exercises their minds. With all the new words and ideas in the HP series, reading comprehension becomes a challenge they are flocking to. I applaud that!

Well, they don’t need telephones or email because they can communicate using owl post, talking patronuses, or 2-way mirrors.
