No Quidditch in HBP?! I hope thats not for certain. The matches are important to the story.Besides, they're so fun! Three movies with no Quidditch? I guess it is time consuming. They will have to leave a lot out of HBP and even more out of DH.
Im glad Im not the only one who cried for Fred. Im a big baby over books and movies. I think I started crying at Hedwig and didnt stop till the epilogue! The thought of Mrs. Weasleys clock is enough to make me start again!
I think JKR said a Squib would do magic, not a Muggle, but I still dont know who it was.
Snape looked into Harrys eyes
in the epilogue it says little Albus Severus has Lilys green eyes.
JKR said in an interview she never intended Luna and Neville to get together. Luna and Dean seemed to be bonding at the cottage, and I think there was a mention of them together during the fight. Subtle but suggestive, and kind of cool. I love Luna, especially after seeing her room with the paintings and the "friends" chain!
I think DD saw his parents and his sister alive and well in the Mirror of Erised. If his sister hadnt been attacked in the first place his father wouldnt have gone to Azkaban, his mother wouldnt have died, he would have gone to Europe after graduation, he never would have met Grindelwald, and his sister would still be alive. But then, he wouldn't have become the strongest wizard of his day, probably wouldn't have become Headmaster, and wouldn't have been able to help Harry defeat LV. Strength comes from suffering.

Seven year olds really shouldnt be reading Deathly Hallows!! I completely agree. But they ARE reading it, or having it read to them. And they're seeing the movies.

I’ve been at a trade show so I’ve only been able to listen between breaks and when I get home. So far, so great!

I liked when the Centaurs, (with the exception of Firenze who had already said in Book One that he would set himself against evil even if it did mean standing alongside of men) decided to get onboard.

I read almost non-stop (except eating, rest room, letting dogs in&out) from the time it arrived until I was done. It took me about 12 hours.
Rowling left the door WIDE open for at least one and possibly 2 additional series. If there is a 19 year gap between the end of the Second Battle of Hogwarts and Harry seeing his youngest son off to school there, that's plenty of room for Tales of Harry the Auror, Hermione the Magical Social Worker, Ginny the Healer, Ron the Ministry wonk, etc, etc.
There's also a potential for tales of James, Rose, Albus, Hugo, Lily and Cousin Teddy.

Yes, we've heard from others that it's worth seeing at an IMAX, especially for the Ministry fight. We've never been to the IMAX theater here in Austin, but we're definitely considering it!

Finished it yesterday afternoon. I’d give Jo an Outstanding on her writing NEWT.

Thanks for the ping rk.... I just finished it last night shortly after midnight... I was glad I was alone because I WAS crying in that last 100 pages....
Whew, what a ride... I need a good night’s sleep and some time to re-read some parts...
One thing I must say, it certainly started out rough and never lightened. Killing Hedwig in the beginning really whacked me. It made me expect that nobody was safe and I was sure Hermione was a goner at that one point.
I really liked the “19 years later” finish. It lifted my spirits seeing a happy ending.

Yes there was a certain sense of coming full circle, wasn't there?Yes, very much so, that's one of the things I enjoyed about the Epilogue.

I hope this series is preparing an entire generation of English kids to fight the war of their generation against radical Islam. Or perhaps an even better outcome - a generation of young Muslim kids will read it and grow up rejecting the death cult of the imams.

I saw Order of the Phoenix in IMAX 3-D. It was awesome! I thought I was riding on the Thestral with Luna.

Wasn't he a bad guy who wanted to take over the world (Homer and the family moved away so Homer could work for him) in a Simpson's episode more than a few years ago.LMAO! I thought the same thing! Hank Scorpio- Super Villian. His theme song:
Scorpio!
He'll sting you with his dreams of power and wealth.
Beware of Scorpio!
His twisted twin obsessions are his plot to rule the world
And his employees' health.
He'll welcome you into his lair,
Like the nobleman welcomes his guest.
With free dental care and a stock plan that helps you invest!
But beware of his generous pensions,
Plus three weeks paid vacation each year,
And on Fridays the lunchroom serves hot dogs and burgers and beer!
He loves German beer!

I suspect the Fred hand fell off when he diedPerhaps, but then I suspect a lot more hands were added to that clock over 19 years! ;-)

The fourth, the cup, destroyed by Hermione (not sure about that one, have to wait until Rose finishes the book to check it) See pages 622-623, which include another of my favorite lines:
"It was nothing," said Ron, though he looked delighted with himself. "So what's new with you?"
To: Bear_in_RoseBear
Does it seem like, for an incredibly overbearing government agency, the Ministry of Magic shows remarkably little interest in investigating magical deaths? Dumbledore’s mother and sister both died of, at best, involuntary manslaughter but it doesn’t seem the Ministry ever came after anyone.

I'm glad his Gran finally saw him in action, and could be proud of him!I loved when she came in and said something like, "Well, I've got to go help my grandson fight!"
