You would think from tonight’s show that Simon Cowell is the one who discovered poverty in Africa.

There have been Christian missionaries in Africa for at least two centuries, trying to make life better for the people there.

And doing a darned good job.

My own daughter is in Africa, married to a Lutheran missionary. They’ve been there for twenty years, working hard to bring a better life to the people.

If I want to help out in Africa, I can (and do) give through my Church, and also directly to my daughter and son-in-law for their projects to fight poverty and illiteracy in Africa.

I don’t need Celine Dion or Ryan Seacrest to lecture me about poverty anywhere in this world.

My sister and her husband were in Madagascar for years in the 80’s & 90’s. My niece and her husband are missionary’s in Burkina Faso now using their agronomy degrees and teaching at a Bible school. I only saw a portion of tonights show since I was at the gym and only bits and pieces of it.
