Chris No sign of Bono yet.
The theme this week is inspirational songs. Chris chooses Eric Clapton's "Change The World".
It's okay.
Randy: "You're in it to win it."
Paula: "Really well done."
Simon: "It kind of feels like the competition starts properly tonight." (of course, Sanjaya is gone)

Stupid TiVo still having disk problems... I lost most of LaKisha's performance due to the glitch.
Anyhoo... after fast-forwarding through the telethon portions of the evening, it went by pretty quickly with only six (short) clips. Here's my rundown:
- Chris - Honestly, really not bad at all. It suffers most by comparison to the original, and Chris' lack of "soul" in that comparison.
- Melinda - Flame away if you must, but I thought this was dull. In the gospel style, if I had been hearing this during a church service, I'd have been flipping in the weekly program to see what was coming up after about the first half.
- Blake - Not really a "showcase" song, and invites comparison to the original. Again, I'd have go with dull as the operative word.
- LaKisha - What little I heard didn't impress me (phrasing issues, lack of connection to the words), but the judges comments make no sense. There's only one Fantasia? Thank goodness!!! Diana's cut of this song was better than Fantasia's anyway.
- Phil - Didn't know the song, and this didn't make me want to learn it. Another dull performance.
- Jordin - What are the judges smoking? Don't get me wrong, I like Jordin -- I even think she's going to win this year -- but this wasn't even close to her best. It was pitchy, uneven, and not well controlled, things I never say about Jordin.
