ALBEMARLE, N.C. (AP) -- The father of former "American Idol" contestant Kellie Pickler has been arrested again, accused this time of stealing older abandoned and disabled vehicles and illegally selling them to scrap yards.Authorities have charged Clyde Pickler, 42, who finished a three-year prison term in Florida last year for stabbing a man, with three felony counts of larceny of a motor vehicle and one felony count of obtaining property under false pretense, according to court records.
"He would represent that he had legal ownership and sold them for salvage," said Stanly County Sheriff's Capt. Charles Hatley.
Pickler was arrested May 18 in Albemarle, and he remains in the Stanly County jail on a $26,000 secured bond. He has a court date scheduled for July 9.
He has a court date scheduled for Thursday on a misdemeanor charge of operating a vehicle without a license, and a June 12 court date for another misdemeanor larceny charge, according to court records.
Kellie Pickler, an Albemarle native who now has a country music career based in Nashville, Tenn., reconciled with her father in an emotional public ceremony last May. Pickler's mother abandoned her as a child and her whereabouts have remained a mystery.
