Thanks Jonny. This is huge news in the NASCAR world. Yep, from all the reports it looks like JR Motorsports is going to be a satellite of Hendrick Motorsports next year, if not for several years to come. JRM will be getting chassis, engines and other support from HMS. Sounds to me like Rick Hendrick (and Jeff Gordon -- I saw the signs of this awhile back*) are going to help JR gut DEI and will probably do all they can to help JR win a championship.
They are helping him to gut DEI in hopes that at some point Junior can take over the wreckage from Theresa and build it up again.
*Earlier this year, Jeff, Junior, JJ and someone else were all together on an intervew. Forgot the show, but not one part of the conversation. Almost as though Junior wasn't sitting there, the host asked several questions about what Junior should do. And the way Jeff answered the questions made me think that he was trying to help Junior in his negotiations. Almost sounded like Jeff was doing some carefully worded speaking for Junior. WCG, maybe you will remember my remarking about this at the time.
There are several ties between Junior and HMS, starting with the fact that Rick Hendrick had a long-time relationship with Budweiser when they sponsored the 25 car. Also Rick has helped several people in the sport who have been facing catastrophic illness. He recently helped Junior's sister find doctors who accurately diagnosed what was going on with her when her own docs did not.
And Jeff Gordon has said many times that he doesn't see himself still driving past the age of 40. He's now 35 and soon to be a father for the first time. He does want to remain Rick's partner, though. I can see Jeff stepping out of driving in a few years and going into a management role at HMS.
This is also great deal for Junior, because he gets access to all the strengths of the HMS organization to help him build his company and be in a position take over DEI should Theresa ever come to her senses. Junior gets experience with the top organization in the sport, which will help him learn the management side of his company.
A good deal all around, I'd say -- except for the diehard Jeff haters among Earnhardt fans. So now who will they throw beer cans at? ;-)

I got the feeling that, as the show progressed, she developed a real knack for bluesy kinds of love songs with lots of emotion. She seems determined and feisty enough to develop her strength.
Out of this year's crowd, she's the one I developed that same kind of respect for that Carrie Underwood and Kelly Pickler generated. That is, appreciating the opportunity to benefit from this.
I did hear Rush talk about 24 and why this season has been underwhelming. :) He said that they have several new shows coming out and they have not invested as much time in 24.(we couldn’t tell, could we?;) However, they are supposed to be doing something majorly different next year.......should I be scared?

Dale Sr would be proud that his son is standing on his own feet and very disappointed that Teresa made him take this stand. I don’t know if we will ever know all that occurred in the contract negotiations, but I am pretty sure she tried to pull a fast one in the last 3 weeks. I could see this coming, all of a sudden things got very quiet with Kelley and Jr. and the folks at JRM who usually post with us on Infield Parking.
So, I am anxiously awaiting and will take pics hopefully.
One more thing just for clarification. Jr already has JRM, his own company that fields Busch cars for the Navy. He just opened a new building site about 3 weeks ago adding more space. He has all the equipment needed, even DEI has to borrow a 7 post shaker from him that they didn’t have to test the COT cars on.
Truex has 1 more year on his contract which I suspect can be bought out. Budweiser has a opt out clause if Jr is not in the #8 car. [I thought their contract ended the end of this year along with Jr, I’m not sure but they can get out either way and they will follow him.] So, we’re all set for the future and DEI will become a museum for Sr’s memorabilia eventually. They may try to continue but losing their namesake is a big blow to say the least.
And, finally the crewchief speaks volumes.....

This makes it harder to hate him. I tell you, sometimes life just ain't fair. LOL.
