First, let me give props to LuLu for being the best mentor they've had on AI to date. And LOL!! to Noone for his sly put downs of Chris R. and Sanjaya.
I totally agree about Lulu and Noone--they were the perfect mentors. They were objective and critical while being encouraging. And they were funny too (like Noone's "breathy" impression of Chris R.--LOL). I hope Idol can find more mentors like them.
[Also, if Paula ever needs to take a "sabbatical" from the show, Lulu would make an excellent sub-judge.]
(Chris R) I guess I give Chris an 'A' for effort tonight, but his vocals are just not good.
I don't know what the judges heard that we didn't. They all gushed over Chris' performance, but I didn't think it was that great. Or even interesting.
(Stephanie) this girl is bland and boring.
And forgettable. I revise my bottom three picks and swap out Haley for Stephanie. She's might be going home tonight.
(Chris Sligh) ... the theatrics of coming out of the audience didn't work for him. He got out of breath when he ran up the stairs and never caught back up to the song. He's musical and has a good voice, but he plays it very safe every week.
I think he tries too hard. Or as Paula said, he "tries ultra hard to be ultra hip." Last week, he sang without glasses. This week, he sang from the audience--and heaven help him, he even climbed up on the platform. Just walk out onto the stage and sing, Chris!
(Melinda) ... her wide-eyed "who me" persona is wearing thin.
It's becoming annoying, isn't it? And I guess we're not the only ones that feel that way because after her performance, Melinda was asked repeatedly by the judges and Seacrest: "Is this the real you? Is this the real you?"
I don't think it's an act, really--not like Pickler's saLmon shtick last year--but it's getting there.
To me, LaKisha is starting to fade, the bloom is coming off the Melinda rose, while Blake and Jordin are becoming my favorites.
If the divas' lock on the competition was broken, that would make this season MUCH more interesting. Blake still annoys me, but I do like the quality of his voice. And Jordin seems to improve week after week ... It could happen.
My bottom three tonight are Stephanie, Phil and Suckjaya--and I have a feeling that Suckjaya is going to squeak (or shriek :) into the Top 10.

Ain't nothing wrong with eye candy. However, McPhee from last year was more attractive and more talented.

Melinda is beginning to bore me. The same facial expressions all the time. The same responses. Maybe she is that sweet all the time, but that gets to be a little over the top quickly.
LaKisha has let me down ever since that one big performance--about three weeks ago. I keep looking for her to top that and I don't think she can.
Blake, I like to watch his dancing, but his singing isn't all that great.
Stephanie had the phrasing completely wrong on her song. I kept waiting and hoping on the big sound, but it just didn't come. I'm beginning to think she just teases us to want more, but then can't deliver.
Chris R. is way out of his league. Very nasal. I was surprised when he said something like I want people to see me as more of a singer then a great performer. That's pretty heavy calling yourself a great performer--but then it may not have come out the way he meant it.
Stacey could be good, but doesn't know how to deliver. His voice gets lost a lot in the background noise.
Chris S. I really wanted to like, but I'm just thinking that he is kind of a smart aleck on the playground. He doesn't take advice and is always making me feel uncomfortable when he performs. I think his voice is good, but the rest of the package is definitely not good. I'm not talking about his weight because I think we're above that and I'm fine with that, but there is something that just strikes me as the playground smarty in Jr. High.
The kid--I can't ever remember his real name because you all have given him so many--needs to go. I didn't like the way they kept panning the audience to the little girl, because I would guess that they could have done the same for all the performers. I'm guessing that she cried the whole night, not just for the kid.
And the opening gal, can't remember her name, she just doesn't have it. PERIOD!
Gina needs to get rid of the tongue piercing and maybe that would help with her "pronouciating". She just doesn't have the whole package. She tries to rock everything, so I can't tell if she can really sing anything else. If they do a ballad night, I think she would be lost.
Okay, I'm one of those more tone-deaf than not people, so I look to the way the singer presents the song, the phrasing, and the appeal. I'm not so concerned that everything is "right on" pitch wise, because if they can't sell it in presentation, then they definitely aren't American Idol material. I'll leave the pitchy problems to the rest of you!
Jordin was pretty good last night though I thought there was a dead part in there, but she has had a couple of weeks that were NOT that great. imo I try to take in previous performances for each of them.
I'm kind of surprised that Stephanie didn't do a very good job with her choice last night. Like i mentioned last night, I think she is in real danger of leaving. (only because stinkgaya probably bought himself another week)
I wonder what next week's theme is.

Phil- Please. He looks like he'd steal your soul.
Chris R.- I know somewhere some idiotic woman is fawning over him and the judges and Peter Noone tell me he's good looking, but I just don't see it. He looks like someone from COPS "Some guy named Tony let me borrow this car. No, I don't know his last name or where he lives." Then he sprints off running.
Chris S.- Eye candy he is not.
Blake- I truly doubt his hetro status. Plus you know he can't go more then 90 seconds without starting the beatbox crap. He probably can't even order a latte without dropping a few beats.
Suckjaya- Do I even have to discuss this one??

Wasn't it last week that they ran out of time for Brandon? I felt bad for him.
You know, you are such a better critic than I am musically. I haven't seen a bad performance from Jordin yet, but like I said, I'm not a judge of pitch, more emotion and the selling of the song. I really, really go for phrasing when listening. I'm afraid that there are probably more like me in the audience then like the true music critics--that's probably why sometimes it is more frustrating for you with the good ears as to who is getting booted.
Though it out... and remember that men, as a gender, a more visually-oriented than women are.

Yeah, there's no justice in this world, so Suckjaya will make it to the bottom 10. He is absolutely cringe-worthy, but I have a feeling he's going to be there after several of the better singers go home. :(
Oh, Mikayla was horrible, no doubt about it. But Sanjaya has her beat by a mile in the "worst" department. :)
I have to disagree here. Mikalah edges suckgaya out. I wouldn't want to listen to either one for very long but Mikalah's nasal Brooklynese sound was worse and harder to listen to. imo
