They still recorded over 100,000 phone calls. That's a heck of a sample size considering the media does presidential polls of 1,000+ people. Is it "representative"? No clue. It has been fairly accurate in the past as long as people consider margin of error.
Brandon Rogers, Jared Cotter, Sundance Head, Phil Stacey in the "botom 4"? Wouldn't surprise me. I picked Brandon and Jared to go. Phil was truly dreadful but he's better than that. Sundance has struggled but I gave him some extra points for throwing out a Pearl Jam song on American Idol. talk about not a good fit....

BUT, of those 100,00 calls, how many people actually made them? How many times could 25 people say, call during a s hour window, using software that would automatically do all the work for you.
They are more off this year, than they were near the end of the season last year. I think their sampling numbers are going to be smaller.
As soon as Ryan said one of them was going to do a LeAnn Rimes song, I knew it was him. But I was expecting it to be "Nothin 'Bout Love Makes Sense". What an awful season this is shaping up to be.
Not a good episode last night. They need to stop getting weird & get back to the show it used to be.
We're not the only ones that seem to think that way. A lot of the articles I read about AI say pretty much the same. Most panned the guys last night, think its the gals year to win etc.
I got the impression from the end of last season that House's drug addiction was going to continue to be a main theme, and that cop. Last night's episode sort of played into the addiction thing.
They just don't have the right group of people & last night with one or two exceptions was weak. I think there will definitely be a female this time. Melinda or Lakisha so far. At the moment my main interest is in who I want to see GO. LOL.

It would naturally be better at the end of the year as the number of contestants got smaller. I think you will see a similar convergence as we move along. The other factor is that there simply isn't that large a distinction amongst the guys. I'm not surprised they are all around the same in Dial Idol.
Regardless, it is the only system out there and it makes for good conversation...;-)
I agree with both of you. Very weak this year. Worst depth of talent I can remember with the possible excpetion of Season 3...
The thing with the cop was interesting. Of course that guy's a pretty good actor himself. I just don't want them to goof around with something that didn't need fixing. House is a unique character but the "brain cancer" storyline was bizarre. I'm starting to see Fonzie on water skis.
Same here. There aren't that many exceptional singers this year. It isn't going to get really intersting until the top 6 I think.
Zabasearch was a much better predictor than Dial Idol, but Zabasearch won't be doing their charts until the top 6.
I think the cop will be back. They said he's be House's continued nemesis. Fonzie on water skis! LOL I think the brain cancer thing was jsut to show how bad his addiction is that he would consider doing such a thing.
IIRC Zabasearch had McPhee winning almost every week which was directly in conflict with the "whisper" numbers of Taylor running away with it. From where do they get their data?
No they didn't. I think you have them confused with dial idol.
I didn't take detailed notes last night.. but suffice it say, only Blake and Sligh were worth watching. These rest all defined their own niches of boring.
Sanjaya - it was his best performance so far... but that bar's set really, really low. Still pathetic.
Sundance - I want to like him, but... moments of brilliance mixed with moments of disaster all surrounded by a whole lot of average. Simon said exactly what I was thinking -- this is a "house band" performer for a local watering hole.
Jared - The Barack Obama of American Idol: all hype, no substance.
Chris R. - The judges keep saying they want originality, so why do they gush over a bad Justin Timberlake knockoff?
Phil - I still don't know what it is, but something bothers me about his look and his voice.
Brandon - Did he even sing? Completely forgettable.
I think they get their data from a phone service or something since they add text votes into their numbers, which is one of the reasons I think their data is better than a few voters using dialing software from dial idol.
the more I see/hear him, the less I like him. There's something about him that is starting to bug me. Maybe all that weepyness.
"He may not sell mega-records over time, but he will certainly not fade into obscurity. Go see him live"
I've only seen him live at the AI concert and I wasn't inspired. I did call in a bunch of votes too.
I do wish zabasearch would start their charts earlier. I think their numbers were good and kept AI honest.
