That little "diva" prance she did? Noticed that too. She should have just been thankful for the second chance.
Well you didn't really miss much--just some leftover auditions :-/
But next week: Hollywood! :)
There's a class for that?? :-p
Is there a sorting-out team that previews the thousands of people that shows up to these auditions?
Yep. The unwashed masses first audition for a group of Idol producers and they screen out the dullest candidates until they are left with (I'm guessing) a couple hundred hopefuls that will acutally audition in front of Randy, Paula and Simon.
No not me :) I got the sign tip from the recap at TVgasm. It's hilarious :-D
Oh, there's a class for EVERYTHING, SJ! LOL! Our HMO is very big on prevention. (Actually it was very interesting. Went through the physiology of how it works, etc.)
You know, re the sorting-out by the producers, I think that answers another question I've had. I watch some of these total and complete losers, the ones who are tone-deaf or just plain awful, and wonder why on earth they think they can sing. Obviously some of that comes from well-meaning friends and family who tell them oh yeah, you're great ... but some of it probably comes from the fact that they made it through the producers' round! I'll bet they're only told that they'll be auditioning for Simon et al. and of course they are not told it's because you are ridiculous and laughable ... so they figure they are pretty hot stuff after all. Sad.
I love your nicknames for the contestants. Glad you are with us again this year!
Will this one do?
Glad to be back. This thread is great fun. I'm usually not on until 9:30pm but it's always a crack-up to read the comments.
BTW...I got to see Kellie Pickler today. She came to my town on her "mall tour." (Like Tiffany of the 80's)
She sang 4 - 5 songs and took audience questions.
She was great. Her voice was much better "live" with acoustic guitar than I remember it on the show.
She belted out "Stand by your Man" and it was incredible.
I never thought she was that good of a singer but she "won me over" today.
Poifect!

Excellent casting. If he is a passable actor, he ought to do very well in that particular role. It should suit his voice admirably.
'American Idol 6' producer sheds some light on Akron Watson's ouster
http://www.realitytvworld.com/news/american-idol-6--producer-sheds-some-light-on-akron-watson-ouster-4687.php
Akron Watson is still wondering why his golden ticket isn't a valid pass to the Hollywood Round of American Idol's sixth season -- and unfortunately for the 23-year-old Dallas, TX singer -- Idol executive producer Nigel Lythgoe couldn't provide a definitive answer.
"We are informed at the end of the day [by Fox] that you can't invite this person or persons, and we don't ask why," Lythgoe told reporters during a conference call on Thursday, according to Newsday. "To be frank, we're not interested [in why]. If Fox believes it will damage the show... then it's best they just don't come along."
"The fact is that we do do background checks," Lythgoe explained to reporters. "I think it's very essential. We're putting these kids together in a very close environment and we're working them very hard and it's essential that we know that we've got the right people together. So FOX got on with this, along with this private security firm and after that I can't give you any other information, because I don't want to know."
Last November -- less than a week before he was scheduled to travel to Los Angeles for the next level of Idol -- Watson reportedly received a phone call from a representative of the Fox mega-hit telling him he wasn't being let through despite receiving a golden ticket from Idol judges during Tuesday night's broadcast of auditions from San Antonio. It's been reported that Watson was arrested in April 2003 for misdemeanor possession of marijuana -- the only thing that would seem to explain why he was uninvited from Idol's Hollywood Round.
So if Watson was told last November he wasn't going to Hollywood, why was his audition still part of Tuesday night's broadcast?
"Because it was a very important part of the show that week, it showed something that was unique. ... [Viewers] have got another 174 people to get invested in," Lythgoe told reporters during the conference call, according to an article published on the Fort Worth Star-Telegram's website. "I don't want to cut out what is a good story for that show. ... Investing in [Watson] at that point is what I'd like you to do. I would've liked to have done that with a lot of other people who are going to disappear during Hollywood week."
Lythgoe added he could only conjure up one possible scenario that would have kept Watson off the air -- and it was far worse than being arrested for possession of pot.
"If he'd have murdered someone, we might've thought twice," Lythgoe told reporters. "We would certainly attempt to stop him being on television."
(I HATE the audition shows...)

Kellie Pickler's Father Arrested (AGAIN!) In Stanly County

ALBEMARLE, N.C. -- The father of Albemarle native and American Idol star Kellie Pickler has been arrested and faces several charges in Stanly County. The sheriffs office says Clyde Bo Pickler was charged Wednesday with communicating threats, assault on a female and assault with a deadly weapon. All of the charges are misdemeanors.
Pickler was released from prison in May 2006 after serving more than three years for aggravated assault and battery charges after he stabbed a man. His daughter had been eliminated from the popular TV show the week before.
The two hadnt seen each other in years when they were reunited at a homecoming celebration for the singer in Albemarle.
Pickler will be in district court on Feb. 21.
Thanks for the ping to the Pickler thread :)
Hi Jonny. Good to see you on this fine Saturday. Clyde's a charming lad, isn't he. (That's dry sarcasm for those who don't get it).
Kellie's doing pretty well for herself these days and I hope she stays far, far away from Clyde.
That's the truth!
Clyde was only out of prison ... how long? Eight months? And now he's going right back in. Idiot.
So Clyde's up to his old tricks again, the jerk. The man's a fool. If he reined in his temper, got off the booze, cleaned himself up, maybe learned how to read, he could make a pretty good living being one of his daughter's gofers.
She's making the most out of what Idol has given her and she certainly doesn't need any "Clydes" dragging her down.
