speaking of quotas, here's the breakdown for the first five years:
1 - Kelly - white female
2 - Ruben - black male
3 - Fantasia - black female
4 - Carrie - white female
5 - Tay-Tay - white male
My prediction? will be a black female this year...though I do like Sligh!!!

After listening to him though and checking out his blog (which will likely be shut down soon), I see that the guy is a real singer, as well as an insightful guy with astute musical taste.

Sounds like a very interesting guy. I hope when we see him in Hollywood that he's had a bit of a makeover so he stands a really good chance at making it to the next round.

I'll never forget years ago on a talk show long forgotten that Jose Eber was on and Gary Collins asked him about Crystal Gayle's hair....Jose said everytime he saw her, he just wanted to grab a pair of scissors....I can't stand that long crap....I agree with some earlier posts - cut it off and donate it to those folks who make wigs for cancer sufferers...

Sligh did what Taylor Hicks did - made a good first impression on AI viewers with not only his voice but unique personality. The Hasselhoff joke was brilliance and he set himself up as someone who might just be good for a laugh or two but sings awful, when all along he knew he could sing.

Knowing how to sell yourself to the viewers/voters, in addition to pleasing the judges in the early stages, is becoming more and more an art form on the show. And I like it!

Yeah, a few "older" guys who are different looking but sound great. Wonder who started that trend??

America loves funny chubby guys. John Candy, John Belushi, Chris Farley, Jackie Gleason, etc.

His mannerisms really reminded me of another chubby, well-loved (deservedly) dude:

Yep, I thought them not sending on the girl from Oklahoma was the biggest mistake of the night. Must have been something with her voice that wasn't coming through on the television. I thought she sounded great.

Just caught a nice segment on NESN (New England Sports Network). Seems Ayla Brown is at Boston College and is rocking the basketball team as a freshman. She did a great interview - without makeup, in a pony tail and a hoodie. So cute! She still impresses me with how articulate she is. She is going to go far in life, I think!

Did daddy go to trial at all for shooting stepmom?

I don't think he shot stepmom, I think he was attempting suicide, that's what I understood anyway. That little girl was pitiful.. Didn't know there are times when you should keep some things private. :)

Brandy tickled me. I loved it when she told Simon, "You don't know nothing, you can't even get in the door" . :O)
