I'm afraid she won't win.I think the female kids will gravitate toward Blake. I don't know if a lot of male kids watch the show, but they'd probably gravitate whoever they think is the hottest babe. :)

We aren't the only ones disappointed by their big announcement.

5 - The big announcement. Sooooo much hype, soooo much teasing. I was expecting something marvelous to be announced ABOUT American Idol. What I got instead was the announcement of a big tax shelter for Idols producers and Coke and Fords CEOs. Hmmmph. Taking nothing away from the good effects that the charitable contributions will make in the lives of some deserving children (how cute was the little guy doing the twist for Ryan and Simon?), what I really wanted to hear about tonight was something that would take my favorite all-time show and make it fresh, exciting, special, maybe even new.

19E didn't do cute for Daughtry. I disagree. It wasn't nearly as bad as the watered-down rock flavored pop that they put together for Bo, but it fell way short of my expectations. It is definately produced for a specific, and commercial, audience.
It's kind of like going into a chain restaurant like Applebees or similar and ordering a "spicy" dish. They can't put a truly spicy hot dish together because the large majority of their customer base can't handle it. The delicate dears would break out in a sweat if you merely wave a pepper near the food. I was hoping for Habanero with Daughtry's album*. Instead we got TacoHell Mild.
*The Slash track gives me hope for future albums.

Thanks for the info about Melinda. What a talent, and a genuinely nice person!
I think when it comes down to those gawd-awful theme nights, Melinda will show her versatility, even more so than LaKisha. While I believe LaKisha is a true talent and amazing vocalist in her genre, Melinda has already shown how she can twist a song around and own it. I have a hard time picturing someone like LaKisha or Chris R (as much as I like him) doing Beatles night.
At some point, I hope that she can somehow work her magic on a very contemporary song, so that the younger set can relate to her.

I understand exactly what you're saying. I felt the same way with Taylor Hicks' cd. While its not what I had hoped for, it also wasn't as bad as I first thought.

Query: In previous years, once we got down tot he last dozen or so...IIRC..there was no pattern to whether a guy or a girl was voted off. This year, we could see 4-5 guys going before One girl gets the boot..

Agree completely. That was easily the best track on the record.

I have a hard time picturing someone like LaKisha or Chris R (as much as I like him) doing Beatles night.,Rumor is that Beatles night has fallen through and has been replaced by British Invasion Night and Peter Noone will be the mentor that week.

All of those "Top 100" or "Best 200 of ALL TIME!!!" lists are full of crap, to me. This one that you referenced is about the most ridiculous. "Automatic For the People"? That was REM's Jump the Shark moment. "Murmur" did change the music scene in America, plain and simple.
No Elvis Costello. No Sublime. And they're putting Shania Twain on that list?
And the Dixie Chicks? Jeez, I really didn't need to read any more from these Politics Pimps at NARM....

It's commercial rock, like Nickelback. Making a heavy metal album would have just been self-indulgent.

FNC just said that Michael Jackson will lose the rights to the Beatles catalog in 2008. Maybe the 'rights' thing was why Beatles week fell through?? Maybe MJ wouldn't all AI to use them??

You know, now that you mention it, I think my son told me about the Beatles night thing, too. Wonder if it has anything to do with the Michael Jackson rumors at the beginning of the season, since MJ and Sony hold the publishing rights to the majority of the Beatles' catalog...
Anyway, British Invasion nights sounds WAY more interesting, since the Beatles bore me to tears.
