LOL!!!
I did hear that! I also heard that they have finally been given permission for some Beatles songs and there may be a Beatles night sometime after the top 12 is selected. And a HUGE maybe that Paul McCartney may be around that week to mentor the finalists.
It's one thing to be able to decently sing a song, it's another thing to write a "great" song and have the right performer sing it.
Lightbulb moment!
Ross to Serve as "Idol" Mentor
Diana Ross told David Letterman that she is going to be on "American Idol" this season.
During a taping of "The Late Show" this afternoon, the legendary singer told Dave, "I'm going to do the 'American Idol,' as a mentor. And then I'll leave from there and I'll go on tour, March and April."
"Idol" producers were not immediately available for comment. The show premieres tonight at 8PM ET/PT on Fox.
Well, it can't get less talented or much more "weird" than Minneapolis, Minnesoooota. I can't believe the no talented hacks last night! Even the ones that made it thru, didn't even ignite a spark.
If I've learned one thing in this life it's never say, "It can't get much worse then this!" Because without a doubt life will show you that it can- and it will. Oh yes, it will. ;-)
Pefect example. The 16 yr old rocker kid, who Simon asked to come back and do an ABBA song and his voice or approach didn't change at all. Then to jump in and do a Barry Manilow free style, and have that same rocker voice was absolutely hysterical!
This to me was the highlight of the show because I believe it was truly genuine.
That kid has got two choices, either to persue and persist, or to give up. This is the honest value AI has, and what it's all about to me.
I believe you, 'cause I did the same thing. The minute he sang, I told my husband "That's him."
Also, allow me to go out on a large, Redwood limb and predict that the winner of this year's competition will NOT come out of the Minneapolis auditions.......
lol! that would have been bad! ;-)
That is good news. Those songs STINK! Hopefully, they'll come up with something we might actually want to buy.
Oh, "caffeine"...is that what we're calling crazy now? LOL!
I wonder if the contestants themselves could contribute? Taylor could have last year... I'm glad they are doing this.
Unless they're holding out on us, just showing the horrible ones, I think you may be right!
A lot of screamers but no singers.
Yeah I'd vote for that.
By having his personal study upstairs and away from :D
There was a great thread on the AI Taylor boards called "Write a Cheesy Coronation Song" that was hysterical and most of the songs written were much better than the dreck the professional writers foisted on the contestants. That's probably where they got the idea.
Does anyone know the names of those contestants that made the audition from Minneapolis and are going to Hollywood, or know where I can find them?
I agree. Even the "good" contestants weren't very good. I didn't see all of the show last night, but I didn't see anyone who looked like a contender.
