American Idol Surprise Event To Be Revealed Thursday
http://www.realitytvmagazine.com/blog/2007/03/american_idol_s.html
At the beginning of the top 8 guys performance show, Ryan Seacrest said Its a very big week for the show, not only will we give you your top twelve on Thursday, but were going to announce one of the most important events in Idol history. Trust me, youll want to be here for that on Thursday.
The important event that Ryan Seacrest referred to is likely the same surprise event that American Idol producers have been teasing about for months. What is the surprise event? The only thing we know for sure is that according to American Idol producer Nigel Lythgoe its not about an individual. In an interview with TV Week, Lythgoe denied that either Paul McCartney or Michael Jackson would be coming on the show.
Lythgoe also told TV Week, But it is something very special, and I did say it does involve "American Idol" and it also involves America. It involves the viewers, it involves a whole big issue here. It's something that I know we're all very proud of. We're going to be the first program that will talk about this sort of thing and well, it will have to wait until next time. But I can't wait to tell you.
So what is this big surprise event? Lythgoes hints are very confusing, but that the surprise event is being announced on the same night as the top twelve finalists are being announced is very interesting. Its always been very suspicious that many of most featured contestants during the auditions were cut with barely a mention during Hollywood week. Could it be that the American Idol wildcard show is coming back?
If the surprise event is not a wildcard show, then our prediction would be that it is some kind of World Idol competition, maybe with a charitable component. Lythgoes reference to that it does involved American Idol makes us think that maybe its bigger than just America and American Idol.
LOL!!! I aim to please!
You know, that could (and usually does) backfire on them with him. It comes across as the cool kids making fun of the sweet fat kid.
Chris was a bit arrogant with the judges that first week, but this week he had an air of "Please, God, just let me get to my locker without Cowell snapping the towel at me again!"
Got that right. Like someone said way up thread, if they showed us more of the auditions there is no way we would have watched.
Most is not all of the articles I've been reading think sangaya should have been gone already, but want him to leave tomorrow, yet know in their heart of hearts that he will stay. Why they don't know. One even suggested that he do Marcel Marceau! LOL
That would be great! But I don't think that's what it is. Probably the song writing contest.
Congrats on post #10,000! (And we're not even to the finals yet...)
OR
We would ahve seen just how many better singers they refused and we would be wondering even more what they are up to. I still think we are being set up. No country what so ever, male or female?
It's probably a good thing that next week they merge the guys and ladies, because the men are perilously close to unwatchable, especially the longer sangaya stays.
He's pretty good in his element. The pop schlop stuff is not his style. He does a great cover of "Southbound".
"Maybe they aare finally going to talk aabout the lyric/song contest?'
Since we can't trust "America" to kick off a bad singer like Sangaya how can we trust them to know what a well written song sounds like? It has to be better than the "puppy dogs, rainbows and furry woodland critters" songs of the past though...
If he had he would not have the creative freedom he has now. Getting good exposure but getting voted off was a good thing for Chris.
"Daughtry should have won!!!"
Best thing that could have happened to Chris was to not win. AI already screwed up his record. Imagine if they would have had an even bigger hand in it...
I would like to see it. After he won AI, I listened to him on via an internet stream and it sounded more raw and truthful, not like his new CD.
I was just doing a little digging to see if I could find some info on "the surprise".
One really interesting theory is that AI is going on the road and each episode of the finals will be in a different city. That's kind of cool!
In my digging I found a story that we had heard earlier about the contestants being broken up into trios. But one article went further to say that people will vote on which trio sucked and then the judges will pick one person from that trio to go home! That would kill the show, IMO.
Don't fix what isn't broken. That's my opinion.
No, they shouldn't monkey with the format. My gut tells me that whatever it is will not in any way, shape or form live up to the hype surrounding it.
Looking at the "talent" remaining this season, I'd say it's broken.
Oh, and the "trios" thing doesn't work, because what happens once you get down to 11?
