I had forgotten the Amish vote. Having lived in PA and met a few Amish, I remember being amazed at how GWB was able to reach these people. I remember thinking that getting the Amish vote had to be a sign from above that GWB was the right man.

It's easy to think of the Amish as being "Apart from the world" but I have found them to be incredibly well informed citizens.

I recall visiting an Amish shop about ten years ago during the Lewinski years, and someone mentioned the name of the president, and all the Amish including the kids started snickering as if it were a punchline from a dirty joke.

In retrospect they were correct.
