He could be certain that nobody around was armed, had any martial arts expertise, had any military training, nor the mindset of dealing with sudden savage violence. He picked his target carefully, in that he wanted to be absolutely certain of no resistance.Right, the one-room Amish schoolhouse was about the safest local target the milk truck driver could think of. He must have been a copy-cat killer with a desire to take young girls hostage for a while, but his time was cut short. The Amish are possibly the most vulnerable of American communities and may God damn anyone who singles them out to harm because of their Amish simplicity.

"He let go 15 male students, as well as one adult female who was pregnant. Three other non-student females with infants were also allowed to leave. "The teacher was pregnant, the other ladies had infants and the teachers aide was 15-16.
I ask again. What were they supposed to do? Please don't second guess their actions.

Yeah, going to get help by calling 9-1-1 was a bad move, according to the Monday evening QBs.

Yeah, going to get help by calling 9-1-1 was a bad move, according to the Monday evening QBs.Yeah, a young adult female from a pacifist culture was supposed to try and overpower an 32-year-old man with death in his eyes, carrying three firearms and 600 rounds of ammo. Makes sense to me /sarcasm.

Think "Evil Exists" instead.
This is just one of those things that reminds us what lurks beneath.

###"Those newscasters that I have heard today speaking about the need for more stringent school security measures, and the fact that counsellors and adivsors will be on hand for the victims and their families, are all speaking from their own vantage point
a shallow perspective that is entirely foreign to Amish culture."###
Very, very true. The media and peripheral secular society have not the foggiest idea on what will console this culture. May the Lord be with them in their time of need.

Any updates on the other injured children and their condition?
To: sasha123
This guy was ready for a siege. He picked a good spot too. From the helicopter photos, it looked like the school had good sightlines out over the landscape. A school hostage-situation has always been my worst nightmare since the Beslan attack. There is just no easy way to assault a school full of children.

This area is nearby...as bucolic as it gets.

I remember after Columbine, the school and government had all kinds of grief counselors available for the students. Most of the local churches opened their doors to anyone who wanted to come in. The kids packed the churches.
