Mel's sentiments and words inevitably must taint his achievement with The Passion. He's brought that on himself. It's very sad for those of us who believe the movie was inspiring and faithful to the Gospel.

I can separate the artist and his art. When the preacher runs off with the pianist, it doesn't change my opinion of the Gospel, either.
