Actually it was part of his Supreme Race mysticism. He had sent a group of scientists to the Himalayas to find what was thought to be the lost Aryan race to bring back his Super Race. The swastika is actually a wheel representing reincarnation.

He was into some weird mythology that said there used to be a godlike race of Aryans and he believed it and was going to recreate that into the 4th Reich.
This is why he killed all the lower races, jews, gypsies and retards.
