SAFETY HARBOR, Florida (AP) -- Terri Schiavo's former husband has married his longtime girlfriend, friends and family members say.
Michael Schiavo and his longtime girlfriend, Jodi Centonze, were wed Saturday at a church in Florida. The bride's brother says it was a very emotional ceremony.
Schiavo's former wife, Terri, had suffered severe brain damage more than a decade ago and died last March after her feeding tube was removed.
Michael Schiavo had argued his wife was in a vegetative state, and would not want to be kept alive artificially.
...snip.....
The newlyweds first met in a dentist's office and began a relationship after Terri Schiavo was already in a nursing home. They have two young children.

Well gee, you could then accuse him of anything you want, as long as somewhere in the world it's true.
He was not a bigamist, your "in essence" be damned.
Exactly. That's where your invincible ignorance kicks in. She could only have swallowed her saliva by means of the pharyngeal reflex. That's a medical fact about all human beings, not Schiavo specifically. Ergo, she possessed the reflex. There is no room for debate on that. Only your ignorance makes argument seem possible.
Go away with your "if she could swallow saliva, she could eat a T-bone steak" argument.
That's what makes you confusing; you go along being perfectly stupid, and then suddenly you turn around and go all dishonest. Pick one and run with it. Are you dishonest, or stupid? Which?
You're welcome. The GOP needs to drop him from the RNC yesterday. He's making real republicans look bad. Most republicans aren't killers.
When were PROBATE JUDGES granted POLICE POWERS to carry out a murder? I guess it was last year in March.
(this jpeg is a decent size for saving)
When the arrests were occurring there was no entrance to 102nd Avenue heading towards Hospice. The police made a human barrier and would not even let family members who had dying relatives in Hospice cross their crime scene tape. A member of the media said out loud that it was nazi, germany. It certainly was.
The older wisdom is, if you thirst for justice, first make yourself just.
Insufficient for adequate sustenance. And who would want to provide long term nutrition this way, even if her reflex was not impaired, which the tests showed it was?
You propose providing nutrition, drop by drop, at the point where the reflex is triggered, risking aspiration? Why? To say that you can? To say, "Hey lookee what I can do"? You call this "practicing medicine" -- or simply making a point?
Terri's swallow reflex was barely capable of handling low volume and slow moving saliva that managed to make it back far enough in the mouth to trigger the weakened reflex. Her tests showed she was capable of little else.
Beyond that, you're simply arguing an impractical technicality. Argue that with your Terri-bot friends. I am truly no longer interested in playing these games with you.
(Oh, and your coma patients probably still possessed the cough reflex and the gag reflex such that if you f#@$ed up when feeding them they wouldn't die. Lucky you.)
If you strain really, really hard to remember, then I think you'll recall that I already pointed out that issue. But this is the first time you've caved in and admitted that the reflex is present at all; I suppose that's progress. Yes, it's entirely possible that she would have starved to death even with PO feedings, due to inadequate intake. Neither you nor I know that for sure, but it's certainly possible.
You propose providing nutrition, drop by drop, at the point where the reflex is triggered, risking aspiration? ... Oh, and your coma patients probably still possessed the cough reflex and the gag reflex such that if you f#@$ed up when feeding them they wouldn't die. Lucky you.
Your ignorance is showing again. You clearly have no idea how feedings work with comatose patients.
I am truly no longer interested in playing these games with you.
But we're making progress: you retracted one of the claims you had clung to most doggedly throughout this conversation. After taking one step on the path to mental clarity, why turn back now?
I retract nothing. But it is awfully nice of you to admit that your argument is specious and therefore moot.
You retracted your claim that the pharyngeal reflex was completely absent in Ms. Schiavo. Have you developed amnesia, and decided to repeat the claim after all?
Whoa! Three lies in one sentence -- that's gotta be a record for you. Maybe not.
I retracted nothing. I never made that claim. And I never said it was completely absent.
I cited a quote from a court document stating that there was no reflex. In context, the statement is obviously referring to oral nutrition, since it acknowledges saliva swallowing.
Saying a person cannot run in the Olympics is not saying the person can't run. If you weren't amusing in your childish way, you'd be a waste of my time. You offer nothing to the discussion, except for your pitiful and irrelevant whining about saliva.
Yes, over and over again. Yet you never claimed there was no reflex? Please. What a clintonesque attempt at dodging the facts. You claimed there was no reflex.
I never said it was completely absent.
In other words, "no reflex" means "some reflex"? I suppose that depends what the meaning of "no" is. Thanks for your testimony, Mr. President.
In context, the statement is obviously referring to oral nutrition, since it acknowledges saliva swallowing.
On the contrary, you clearly stated your belief that "involuntary" swallowing of saliva occurs at random intervals--i.e., that liquid placed in her mouth will not be swallowed, unless it happens to occur at the time of her "involuntary swallow". It's abundantly clear that you had no comprehension of the pharyngeal reflex at the outset, picked up a glimmer in this conversation, and are now pretending that your position has never changed. I hope you don't think you're fooling anyone.
You offer nothing to the discussion...
You seem to be trying to reassure yourself. At the very least, I've offered an education on what the pharyngeal reflex actually is or isn't, and you've clearly learned a little something. Not much, but it's a start. Ending every post with variations on the same childish ad hominem isn't doing your case any good.
The next time you fill out an application where it asks, "How would people describe you?", may I suggest a) sanctimonious, b) condescending, c) patronizing, and d) supercilious.
Your ad-hominem is noted. You'll never learn much, though, if you keep going around biting the hand that feeds you.
That arrest of the 10-year-old was a fiasco. But the boy learned a valuable lesson: in today's America, Christians will be persecuted for doing a simply kindly charitable act. So, be prepared.
We all have. Thank you.
If the affair with the new spouse, began long before the first one died, yes. They actually have a couple of kids together, conceived while Terri was still alive.
