Let me get this straight. Which side of the debate took this to a federal court?

From what I see, the pro-evolution crowd...a quote from an article in the thread:

The plaintiffs argued that intelligent design amounts to a secular repackaging of creationism, which the courts have already ruled cannot be taught in public schools.

Wouldn't the plaintiffs be the pro-evolution crowd?

At any rate, no matter who brought the suit, I don't think such a disagreement should be played out in federal court. Local school board decisions should be judged by the VOTERS. S'pose a federal judge or banc of judges (the Ninth Circus?) decided to order a school district to teach something disdainful? We ought to be appalled. The same thing seems to be happening here.

I can see this going to extreme measures: a school board decides to start the school day at 8:15 am instead of 8:30 am, and a group of angry parents sue in federal court over the time change. Ridiculous for a federal "Robed Master" to decide such things: keep it local.
