Your exactly right, Van der Slut has endured a demotion!! If this goes on long enough, he just might be "worth" getting rid of.

Miss. governor opposes Aruba boycottAssociated Press

MERIDIAN, Miss. - Gov. Haley Barbour says he will not encourage Mississippians to boycott travel to Aruba to protest the way officials there have handled the disappearance of missing Alabama teen Natalee Holloway.

Snip...
Barbour, speaking to the editorial board of The Meridian Star on Tuesday, said he does not believe a tourist boycott of the island is the right means to an end.

"When it comes to boycotting, I am more accustomed to Mississippi being on the receiving end of people boycotting us because they don't like this or that," he said. "I am not favorably disposed toward that device."

Snip...
Dave Holloway, the father of the missing teenager, said he was disappointed in the governor's stand.

"I don't know what to say. The attorney that is representing us indicates that a boycott would help," Dave Holloway said. "So far, it has caused them to take a different view of the case."

Snip...
Holloway, an insurance agent, said he believes a boycott will force the government of Aruba to do more to solve the case. He said he was discouraged from searching for his daughter since the first day he arrived on the island.

"The tourism bureau did not want me to do a search because it would bring too much media attention to the island and hurt tourism," he said. "About 70 percent of their tourists are from the U.S."

Holloway said he respects the governor's position. "But I know (a boycott) would help. It would make them dig deeper and find more answers," he said.

1,503 New Businesses And 196 Businesses Gone In 2005

January 13th 2006, Aruba.

ORANJESTAD-A total of 1,503 new businesses registered at the Chamber of Commerce during 2005. In the first 6 months of 2005 a total of 774 new businesses registered at the Chamber. In the last 6 months of that year 729 new businesses wrote in of which many restaurants and cleaning services.

As much as 196 businesses stopped operating in 2005 in comparison to 109 businesses that did so in 2004. The first half of 2005 was good for businesses on the island contrary to the second half of the year where many businesses had to struggle.

The hurricanes that devastated parts of the U.S. as well as the ongoing War on Iraq are to blame for less U.S. travel abroad and noticeably less tourists from the U.S. market to Aruba in 2005 according to the preliminary report of the Chamber.

The rise in oil prices and thus higher costs on electricity and water tariffs have somewhat added pressure on the economy. The disappearance of Natalee Holloway in June 2005 may have played a role as well in business activity setback.

Wouldn't you LOVE to be an Aruban taxpayer and get to pay for this? All the dolts from US who own time shares in Aruba should take notice of this. Maybe there will be a special assessment sent to all taxpayers to cover making the Sloots rich people at your expense. Or maybe the govt could add a special tax to the hotel room tax until this is paid. Dumb US tourists could then pick up the tab for this little project. I sure hope you guys from the Aruba Task Force that read here and follow every word will pass on my suggestions! Just think - once the Sloot tax is paid for, you could keep it in force to give yourselves that well deserved bonus.

Whenever I get blown away and want to make a confession so I can start the New Year right, I don't go see a priest or the police either. I call a radio station and ask for the number of a popular tourist bar and confess what I know to them. Makes sense to me!

I bet this got a big laugh at NH's expense at some Aruban New Year's Eve party.

On that island, anything is possible if it's criminal.
If she was in the cemetary, then she might have been moved recently...into a fishermans' cage and into the sea. Just speculation...

Very good points. The Sloot Tax on Aruba should be listed as a line item on every invoice and bill.

The Slooters are such a loveable family. There might even be a move to make them Aruba's royalty. There would be King Paul, Queen Anita and Prince Jahooran./sarc

This phone call business reminds me what is bothering me about C. Croes remarks about the cell phone call made by Natalee the night she disappeared.

According to Croes, who was summoned to meet Beth in a darkened gas-station parking lot, Natalee had made a cell-phone call to an American number, and Beth was curious to know to whom. It turned out to have been an accidental call to a friend.

Since Beth already knew about the cell-phone call and what was said, she had to already know to whom it was made at that American number.

I think Beth's point was to find out, from CC the owner of the cell-phone company on Aruba who had all the records, whose cell-phone (owned or leased) that call originated from.

In his VF interview, CC switched the focus away from who owned/leased the cell-phone and on to who had the American number. He said the call was made accidentally, and brushes the important part away. After all, that might implicate someone important and powerful on Aruba.

How in the world could any phone call made by Natalee that night be determined "accidental" and therefore, insignificant?

Celebrity Cruises' "Infinity" is supposed to be docked on Aruba on Sat 14th, from 07:00AM-18:00PM.

But this is the voyage schedule for "Infinity" which does not list Aruba:

Jan 8 Port Everglades
Jan 9 At Sea
Jan 10 San Juan
Jan 11 Antigua (St Johns)
Jan 12 St. Maarten
Jan 13 St. Maarten
Jan 14 At Sea
Jan 15 Port Everglades

Here is the link for the 'Bridgecam' for "Infinity" on Saturday, January 14, 2006 at 3:17:11 PM, showing the ship to be at sea:

Celebrity Infinity Bridgecam

I wonder what happened to the 11 hours that were supposed to be spent on Aruba?

I found this today on Harry Tho's Hyscience blog. The poster, Albert, is an Aruban who has been carrying on a dialogue with Harry and other posters on this case. Here is what he has to say about Charles Croes, the VF article, etc.

I spoke with a member of the Police Force of Aruba regaridng the Vanity Fair article. And this is their reaction: At the early stage of the investigation a lot of aruban citizen was trying to help to Twittie's for instance Mr. Charles Croes who was the one that also spoke with Joran. Charles Croes was intervieuwed by the Vanity Fair where he answer a lot of questions and also did a very interesting statement of his conversation with Joran. Guess what guys...Charles was called in by the local police and question as a witness. You know what most of his answers was??? Ï can't recall, I can't remember and the most interesing one was Ï didn't say that....So whoever that could have read that interesting intervieuw of Charles Croes just waste their time. Charles Croes was arrested last year for threathening his wife and also Charles Croes was fired from a huge Developing Company for misuse of alcohol. His first wife didn't had the most pleasant time during the divorce process and authorities firmly believe that Charles Croes is not else then a moocher! So, more then half of the story in Vanity Fair does not enjoy a credibilty. Charles Croes assisted Beth and Jug in providing cellulars at a reasonable rental price to the full crew of Beth and Jug. Charles Croes runs the Digicel cellular rentals at the airport. case closed for Charles Croes. He is awaiting trial for his last incident.

CC may have caught the same disease that afflicted poor Hillary! during her testimony under oath for Starr. Looks to me like he would prefer to forget everything he ever knew about anything and anybody associated with NH. I guess the phone # that call came from the night she vanished and the person who had that phone slipped down CC's memory hole to never again be retrieved. Besides that, he is a very unreliable witness, so we should just move along and pay no attention.

this cell phone rental is one of the most dramatically essential evidential facts in this mystery, and it is wise to keep emphasizing its importance; beth holloway knew it is, and so do we...she would know already who the call was to because she knows it was made...and even if accidental, it proves natalee was calling someone, no one is denying that fact, and who rented the phone she used would obviously be essential information...mr. croes is no longer a supporter nor friendly, but he still is a key person who may break the case when willing

Very interesting that according to what Deepak told Skeeters, their lawyers knew way back then how they were going to get paid for their time - the judges were going to rule they had the right to sue the govt. for their unlawful confinement and to be awarded $ for it. Deepak says they didn't even pay an advance to their lawyers, just picked up the bills for phone calls, actual expenses incurred in their defense along the way, because the lawyers knew from in front how they would eventually be paid. And now we are seeing exactly that being played out in their corrupt court system with the Appellate ruling to award the entire Sloot family big $ because PVDS was held unjustly for what? 3 days?

I imagine if they were asked about this, they would try to tell us that everyone who is held for questioning who doesn't have charges brought, and/or is not tried, or is found not guilty has a right to do the same. Aruba would have gone belly up long before NH ever got there if that were the case. Wonder how much the two security guards will be awarded that the Sloots fingered? Hmmmm
