Absolutely,
The response was so canned. I sent the person who responded some information like the confession, Dompig's the three "are guilty as hell."
What is enraging is how they keep mentioning that they've spent resources. No doubt that inlcudes the damage control company who outsourced to John Pauly, Steve Cohen and other expenses that they no doubt include which have nothing to do with the investigation.
They refuse to address the security guards truth and the van der sloot lie. They refuse to address the "mistakes" and have the same procedures in place.
It just is not safe for Americans there. Is there a better place to kill Americans than Aruba?

Just emailed Aruba Tourism Authority. Good to hear. Let's hope ATA gets lots of negative letters and e-mails.
I read a story years ago about a guy who murdered his girlfriend (I forget the reason why). Then his imagination started working on him. He began to realize there was a sketeton attached to his back. He could see it, but noone else could. As he walked around, went to work, ate, tried to sleep, there the skeleton was, always with him. And it started talking to him, whispering in his ear. As I recall, the story ends with him going insane.
Urine, I hope that a skeleton has been forming on your back. I hope your conniving papa and mama can see it, too. I hope the sounds of Natalee struggling for her last breath will stay with you for as long as you live. I hope you can never trust talking to anyone, ever, about what you did to Natalee for fear they will turn you in for the reward.
Paulus, are you still sweating buckets as you relive the nightmare that your son brought on your house? Or did you participate, too, in bringing about Natalee's death? Was it your ATM withdrawal that night that paid for her disposal? How do you like working off Urine's legal debts? How many years will you be working in bondage for that debt? Or, are you just happy to have any job at all, now that your government income has finally ended? You and mama formed the monster, you have only yourselves to blame for the spawn-from-he!!. Do you live in fear of having him living in your home now, afraid that if you lay the blame at his feet, he will turn on you and mama?
As for Dickpooo, when he wants a new car and needs a trade-in or has to get rid of his 'rapemobile' car, I hope he has to stop to think, what if someone buys it and gets it forensically tested and somehow finds rape evidence? Will he just keep it in mama-everybody-lies-alpo's front yard forever, as it rusts away, charging admission to see the place where Natalee was last seen alive? Will this be his source of income in his old age, on the island that only cares about its Dutch citizens? Does he now wonder if the conflicted ALE will find a way to pin Natalee's death on him or his brother, but and not on Urine? Is he the least bit worried about that eventuality?
Have a rotten future, guys, you certainly have a rotten past.

I found this link to a TV interview that Beth did I believe when she was in Palm Desert to speak to the National Sheriffs' Assn. that you posted. There is a TV clip on the site from her interview, but I didn't watch it.
"While her quest to find out what happened to her daughter continues, Beth Twitty told us she was shocked at the information she just received from her lawyer. Aruban authorities have apparently decided to close the investigation into the disappearance of her daughter."
The link is titled "Natalee Holloway's Mom Speaks to CBS2" and is dated 1/6/06

I don't know if this is an inadvertent repeat of an announcement of an event that took place last July, or if this is a new search to take place soon.

Search for Natalee Holloway resumed
ARUBA A team of investigators of the University of Florida in Panama City will soon start with searching for possible remains of Natalee Holloway, the American teenager that disappeared in May of last year. The team consists of experts in the field of underwater crime scene investigation and will search the bottom of the sea around Aruba.
The team will use advanced sonar equipment that is remotely controlled from a boat. The investigators have a lot of experience with these kinds of searches and have collaborated in the past with searches under water for victims and evidence after hurricanes and murders. The team is doing the search upon request of Prime Minister Nelson Oduber (MEP).

Remember this from Tim Miller last year?
Miller later goes on to say a rather interesting piece of information in that in his discussions with Police Chief van der Straaten that they have enough evidence to prosecute:
MILLER: Ive spent a lot of time with the Police Commissioner van der Straaten, and he told me that he has got enough stuff without a body for prosecution. Our deal is to bring Natalee home. That family needs that body. They need to be able to say goodbye and start their healing process.
Natalee is not alive. Im sorry. And somebody knows. And now were starting to get angry our own self. Were searchers over here on their island, but now Im getting angry.
What can best be described as one of the biggest differences in perceptions in the extent of which Aruban officials and Americans ones are willing to go can best be summed up with Tim Millers next comment.
MILLER: Well, you know, it could be hopeless. But you know what, going back to the familys house, we brought in some special equipment to do wells and manhole covers and stuff. And I would love to get in their backyard, because I understand theres an abandoned well in their backyard that I certainly would like to put this equipment down into. So, I would hope somebody would honor us in letting us us in their backyard to do that. And if I get egg on my face, I get egg on my face. But you know what, I want to clear that.

From the video:
Beth: "Actually, I just received some news yesterday that was very disappointing, from my attorney, that there is a strong possibility that the Aruban officials will close the investigation. They have no intentions of ever reinterrogating or requestioning the three suspects that are involved with her disappearance".
To: shebacal
Gee, Sheba, that makes me feel even better. /s Not that this isn't exactly what I was expecting. Still, I felt better when it was not coming from Beth.
To: deetch
Precisely deetch. Any resources they spent were NOT on investigating. Beth and Dave and the family paid for EVERYTHING that was done. Even the dump search. They are pathetic. Your right, they spent resources ONLY on the coverup.
Great place to stay away from.

That's the place that I honestly believe is her grave. Paul Van der Sloot 'WENT CRAZY" when Tim Miller politely asked to use his equipment to search the well and his property. Paul Van der Sloot also has a DEAL with LE that his property WILL NEVER be allowed to be searched. That is WHY THEY ARE SO CONFIDENT, no body, no case.

Scared Monkeys has interesting comments on several articles:

Tim Miller Going Back To Aruba to Search for Natalee Holloway January 9th, 2006
SM: In an interview this afternoon with Tim Miller of Texas EquuSearch it was learned that he will be returning to Aruba later this week for preliminary talks with Gerold Dompig and other Aruban officials. Tim Miller plans to go to Aruba with Jim Whitaker, an expert in underwater searches. Tim Miller stated that he has previously talked to Gerold Dompig regarding the matter and looks forward to discussing and mapping out a plan of action with Dompig and other Aruban officials. Their primary goal is to find Natalee.

Beth Twitty: Aruban authorities have apparently decided to close the investigation January 8th, 2006
SM: While in Palm Desert speaking at the National Sheriffs Association Conference according to reports from CBS 2, Beth Twitty is stating that she has been told by her attorney that Aruban authorities have apparently decided to close the investigation. into the disappearance of Natalee Holloway.
Snip...
SM: This is rather curious seeing that not to long ago a select group from Aruba traveled to Washington, DC and met with US Representative Spencer Bachus December 13, claiming the following:
"Rep. Spencer Bachus said he came away from a Friday meeting with Aruban officials with the sense that they plan to vigorously pursue leads in the disappearance of American student Natalee Holloway."
Snip....
SM: And of course this statement,
Their intention going forward
is not to shut this case down, but to continue to pursue it vigorously, Bachus told reporters. They do not consider it a closed case nor do they consider that they have a dead end. They continue to develop information and pursue leads.

Bon Dia: Paul van der Sloot will now work as a lawyer in the office of Mr. Carlo January 7th, 2006
Bon Dia Aruba; January 6, 2006 (Translated news article)
He threatened case against Public Prosecutor if he did not obtain good conduct document
Paul van der Sloot will now work as a lawyer
SM: Just when you thought you heard of everything in the case of the disappearance of Natalee Holloway comes this article in Bob Dia Aruba.
"A Bon Dia investigation demonstrates that Mr. Paul van der Sloot chose to stay in Aruba and that he wants to continue working as a lawyer given that he did not completely achieve his judgeship studies. There is a rumor circulating that Mr. Paul van der Sloot will work in the office of Mr. Carlo. Bon Dia Aruba called Mr. Carlos office for more information, but he couldnt be located."
SM: The office of Attorney Antonio Carlo who represents Joran Van der Sloot? Please tell us it is not the one and the same one.
"Antonio Carlo, an attorney for the Dutch minor, told the AP: My client maintains his innocence. He said the boy would appear before a judge at 2 p.m. EDT."
"Carlo refused to comment on the alleged admission."
SM: I truly hope that this is either a rumor or just a bad joke. The ethical and improper nature of a conflict of interest aside; does anyone on Aruba have a concept of what positive PR is? Who is advising these people? Do Arubans understand what this looks like to the many who already have an issue with the perceptions of a cover up and quit pro quo in the Natalee Holloway investigation? This continual type of behavior and brazen actions will only cause people who ride the fence to and become appalled and boycott Aruba.

Snip...It is understood Ms OBrien was on the top deck of the ship with her 11-year-old sister, Imelda, when she fell overboard. Her sister then alerted her parents and a search was initiated.

Mexican navy combs Caribbean for missing Irish girl
Sat Jan 7, 2006 10:28 PM GMT
Excerpt...
MEXICO CITY (Reuters) - Mexican navy rescuers combed waters off the country's Yucatan peninsula in boats and helicopters on Saturday for an Irish girl thought to have fallen off a cruise ship, authorities said.
The cruise ship, operated by Carnival Corp., was off Mexico's Islas Mujeres islands when the teenager fell overboard in the early hours of Thursday, said Mexican navy officer Genaro Escalante.
He said bad weather had hampered the search.
"They haven't found anything yet but the search continues," he said. "The wind has been very strong."

Here comes the spin. This is what Aruba calls 'a good tourism month for July, 2005 compared to July, 2004 -
an increase of 0.04 percent. But, even that is not true.

The true rate in July, 2004 for Americans was 50,217, which comes out to a decrease for July, 2005. (from Table 10 of Central Bank of Aruba report)
