2 clauses which we see differently:

foreign affairs, and the Supreme Court.

then, the meaning of Executive Power

Really, it all leads to the feet of queen beatrix.....the legalities are quite specific, I am sure, and we will never find them published.....this stuff we CAN find is for public consumption, particularly in aruba, where they live a fantasy.

I think we see it the same...It's just that Aruba does not see this as a foreign affair. They see it as a local crime. Local issues are handled by Aruban officials. The Governor is an executive official.

If there is a trial and the suspects are not convicted I'm sure there is an appeals process. Whether or not this works like it does here it might make it to the Supreme Court. Then the executive branch would be involved.

I guess I should preface post 960 with "This is my opinion of how it works." I could be wrong.

I wouldn't worry too much about it, TL, since we can't be sure they even know how it works!

Agree with Froufrou....it's all a guess for the most part. I was trying to compare it to here, small little towns where the sherrif runs everything--to a mayor that is buddies with the sherrif. Really, would the govenor get involved unless there was some pretty big pressure? Much less the President?

What's happening in New Orleans and even Miss and Alabama is just terrible. And it's going to get even worse in NO!! Can you imagine the diseases and the dead people and animals and sewage and about everything you can think of sitting in that HOT weather. This is truly a DISASTER of biblical proportions!! We need to pray for those people!

Dr Doo - Thanks for sharing. This is the Smoky Backroom, so I wouldn't think you should be called out for posting here. I am so sorry to see the extent of the damage is worse than I had thought.

Last I heard, there was concern about the dome roof holding up. Remarks were made that the air was none too fresh at the dome - just imagine the rest of the place, outside! I also heard there was looting, especially the pharmacies, and that martial law is in effect...true?

You'd think if someone is smart enough to hit the pharmacy for sundries they'd have gotten out when the gettin' was good! Praying for those left at the dome and the rest who were either too stubborn or too stupid to leave.

What is happening in NO and the coastal towns throughout LA, MS and AL is something we will not forget. I hear NO is still taking in water. Problems with the levees. This is incredibly sad. They are talking about having to evacuate the Superdome now. Where will they take all those people?

If Natalee was drugged then she was simply taken by whomever wanted to take her. She wasn't coerced or enticed. She would have been taken against her will.

Please hear me when I say...no sexual assault female victim is going to willingly go with any strange males. Shock, fear, and flight from harm would be her state of mind immediately after being sexually assaulted.

On 8-30 the “AP” reported prosecutors said they have filed a motion to keep Main Suspect J. SLOOT detained another 30 days.

On 8-30 one of Main Suspect J. SLOOT’s lawyers, RICHIE KOCK, told The “AP” that ARUBAN judicial authorities informed him a DUTCH judge would decide Wednesday (8-31) on the detention of his client in ARUBA.

Is this a first with the Dutch judge entering the case?
Hasn't it always been a 'judge of instruction' from the islands?

Aruba judge mulls release of Joran van der Sloot

8/30/2005 4:34 PM By: The Associated Press

A judge in Aruba decides Wednesday whether to release a Dutch suspect in the disappearance of 18-year-old Natalee Holloway.

A lawyer for Joran van der Sloot said judicial authorities told him a judge would rule on the detention for the 18-year-old. Aruba allows suspects to be held for up to 116 days without charge.

Van der Sloot was arrested June 9 with two Surinamese brothers in Holloway's disappearance.

Satish and Deepak Kalpoe were released July 4, but were arrested again last week. Van der Sloot -- who maintains his innocence -- has remained in jail. Prosecutors said Tuesday they had filed a motion to keep van der Sloot detained another 30 days.

The Alabama teen was last seen May 30 leaving a bar with the three men.

I know what you mean about the assault and males. And they appear to be all of the smarmy sort in Aruba.

The news from NO is not good. On another site, there are arguments as to whether or not martial law has begun. There were reports of looting, but not what you'd think. Not for stereos and pawn shop stuff. Pharmacies and clothes and food. God help them and help us help them.

I AM OPEN TO ANY RECOMMENDATIONS AS TO HOW TO MAKE DONATIONS.

I do not trust the Red Cross or the United Way. Leave it at that and don't ask me why. I have sources. It's like trusting the U.N. or al-Sheehan. Not gonna do it. Wouldn't be prudent!
