ORANJESTAD, Aruba: Two brothers, Satish and Deepak Kalpoe of Suriname, who were earlier held and then released in connection with the disappearance of 18-year-old Natalee Holloway from the USA, were re-arrested on Friday based on new evidence, authorities said.
According to the police, the duo were rearrested based on suspicion of being involved with other people in what was termed as premeditated murder and rape.
A legal source told Caribbean Net News that in order to re-arrest the brothers, new facts and circumstances had to be brought to light, but failed to comment further and said nothing about a third man who was reportedly arrested by police on Friday.
Meanwhile, a lawyer for Satish Kalpoe, Elgin Zeppenveldt, told the press that Aruban authorities have not said why the Kalpoe brothers had been re-arrested. "They haven't shown us any evidence," he said.
However, a police source has told Caribbean Net News that the authorities have had statements from some young women linking the Kalpoe brothers and van der Sloot to alleged rape, and other offences.
Both brothers were first arrested on June 9, along with 18-year-old Joran van der Sloot, the son of a local legal luminary, who officials have said is a suspect in the case. However, no charges have been laid against him..
Holloway, a high school graduate of Mountain Brook, Alabama, was last spotted as she was leaving a popular bar with the Kalpoe brothers and van der Sloot in the early hours of May 30. The 18-year-old was part of a group of students who had gone to Aruba to celebrate their graduation.
An extensive search of the island, which included agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in the United States of America, has turned up no trace of the missing teen.
"Norman "gus" Thomas" is some sort of government official in antigua......the milquetoast/almost diminishing use of words in this article prompted me to see what I could find.......doing the aruban/Dutch elite a favor IMO.

I am so surprised by the premeditated charges. It seemed murder charges were unlikely for so long now and then to have not just murder, but premeditated murder is amazing. It's not that I think the charges are unrealistic, just surprised by it.
It was just a week or so ago that speculation was about 50/50 as to Joran being held or released on Sept 4th. Now we have premeditated murder and rape charges and 3 more suspects in jail. And it's not even Sept. 4th yet. This is very encouraging.
I'd like to know what the new evidence is. Whatever it is, it sure seems to have changed the momentum of this case.

I feel pretty strongly that they must have a 'copy' of the filming of the 14-yr-old being raped. When I first saw the term 'snuff film' I was thinking "huh? Like Copenhagen?" The premed murder charges have me both appalled and intrigued.
The question now is: how long before the ALE must either charge them or release them? I love when Satish's lawyer said "no, it's not normal. Only on Aruba is it normal!"
