Surinamese Deepak Kalpoe, 21, arrives to court in Oranjestad, Aruba, Friday, Aug. 26, 2005. Aruban police arrested Kalpoe and his brother Satish, 18, along with a third person according to government spokesman Ruben Trapenberg, saying he doesn't know if the arrests are connected to the disappearance of Natalee Holloway. Surinamese Satish Kalpoe, 18, front, gets in a car to go to court in Oranjestad, Aruba, Friday, Aug. 26, 2005. Two Surinamese brothers, Satish and Deepak Kalpoe, who had been detained and released in the disappearance of Natalee Holloway were arrested again Friday based on new evidence, officials said. The brothers were detained on suspicion of involvement, with unidentified 'other people,' in premeditated murder and rape, the prosecutor's office said. Person to the right is unidentified. Dompig (There’s a new Sheriff in town):

Looks like Individuals will be called back in for more statements in Natalee Holloway Investigation

It would appear that the overconfidence of some that they may or may not have gotten away with certain things due to past Judges decisions in the Natalee Holloway investigation may come back to haunt some. There is a saying, be careful what you say as it may come back to haunt you.

It would appear to be the cause with many involved in the Natalee Holloway investigation who have made public statements on TV. From Greta Van Susteren, On The Record comes this comment:

Tito: Basically, people that have said things either publicly or on TV, or during a previous interrogation. This information is crucial apparently and the authorities want to have these people back. From my sources, this should happen tomorrow. A couple of people have been asked to show up tomorrow and give statements to clarify basically what they said on previous TV interviews. Or other information that came out publicly that made them want to know more.

According to sources in Aruba, suspects who have made public comments to the media will be picked up and questioned in the Natalee Holloway disappearance. The ALE has plans to pick up Deepak Kalpoe and one would presume his mother for comments they made on tape during an interview with Jaime Skeeters for the Dr. Phil Show.

It would appear that these individuals have put themselves in a box. They will have to make statements to ALE not knowing whether the tapes are authentic or not. However, all parties concerned who participated in the tape know what they said is the truth or not. According to Aruban authorities, the Skeeter’s originals were to arrive Fedex. One wonders whether such statements may incriminate themselves that they may be held again on charges.

This appears to be a rather interesting crossroads in the Natalee Holloway investigation as Dompig has stepped up to the plate and drawn a line in the Aruban sand. He was not part of the original investigation and appears that he wants to be able to question those involved himself to put an end to the nonsense that has been going on. First Dompig made the comment over the weekend that the Van der Sloot primary residence had never been searched clearing up that controversy. Now he is taking action as to the public comments said that differ from previous statements made.

For all involved it looks like there is a new Sheriff in town and he means business. For everyone’s sake let’s hope so that this mystery can be solved and proper measures be taken for all involved. I hope that Joran Van der Sloot’s comments are also looked upon in the same manner that he made to the National Enquirer by the ALE and Dompig. I think it would be rather appropriate if he be asked to return to Aruba to discuss his interview comments as well. They seem to be in direct conflict with those that Deepak Kalpoe made regarding having sex with Natalee. Ones that appear are getting Deepak asked back in for questioning.

The rest of the Greta Van Susteren interview: On The Record, Oct. 11, 2005

Greta: It has been more than a month since the suspects release. Has the prosecution given up on the case? Tito, what is the prosecution team saying today?

Tito: Greta, basically that they are researching whatever information they have. When they get stuck, not saying they are stuck…they go back to the beginning to see what they might have missed. They are accessing every angle, every possibility to decide their next move. While they are doing it I must say they are still interrogating people.
In fact I am getting the late word that tomorrow they are getting a couple of people in.
Very important people that I can’t mention right now, probably tomorrow.
They are very close to the case, there may be more developments tomorrow depending on this situation.

Greta: When you say very important people do you mean people who may have seen something or heard somethings? Can you give us a few more identifying characteristics?

Tito: Basically, people that have said things either publicly or on TV, or during a previous interrogation. This information is crucial apparently and the authorities want to have these people back. From my sources, this should happen tomorrow. A couple of people have been asked to show up tomorrow and give statements to clarify basically what they said on previous TV interviews. Or other information that came out publicly that made them want to know more.

Greta: Do they sort of pull you aside and say don’t worry we are going to solve this?
What are the odds that they will solve this case?

Tito: They definitely did not say they will not solve this case. They are going to solve this, it is just taking longer. They are taking their time, doing everything possible. They will solve this at one point on another. It is far from over, regardless of the information that we are stopping the investigation. Not a lot of media attention had been given either local or international but they are looking forward to a resolution even before the end of the year.

Greta: Do you think the prosecutor Karen Janssen pays any attention whatsoever to the criticism that Beth has?

Tito:It is worrisome at one point, but I understand that more than her. It is more a committee that they have installed since the beginning that contradicts everything that has been said incorrectly to make sure that Aruba’s name is not being looked at in a ? way. They are basically observing everything and making sure that it is getting all the attention of everything being said about this case. Not as much as the prosecutor, this is a committee.

Greta:That has to do with how it effects Aruba itself. What about the prosecutor? Does she have a thick skin or be moved by it?

Tito: She definitely knows about it. She is not deaf, she is not blind, she is paying attention. She says she has a very thick skin, they all either have one or have gotten one.
Don’t pay attention to what is being said.

Greta: What about sexual assault charges, if they cannot make it murder. Is there any chance a sexual assault charge would be brought against anyone?

Tito: The only thing that is different now is they didn’t have enough information to justify them detained. But, rest assured that any charges like you mentioned will be brought forward when the case comes forward. They are charged with sexual assault.
Although there is not enough to keep them in jail right now, but enough to make it stand apparently in court.

Greta: Joran is in school in the Netherlands, do you run into Deepak and Satish?

Tito: I do run into Deepak quite often, he is back at work. I bumped into him a couple days ago. He goes about his job. He is a little nervous, people know who he is and come in and want to talk to him about the case. Americans or locals. Satish is more away, meaning in school we are not paying much attention to him. Joran is in Holland, doing OK with his family to support him. Deepak is the one out in the community, most visible.

Greta: Any search going on Tito?

Tito: There was a search late last week, I did not get the details. All of the searches have to do with tips. Weather has not been clear, they are waiting on the tides, the water and the weather. So they can resume searches again.

I must be going mad. I seem to recall that Dompig was the one who said, about June 10 or 11, that one of the suspects had confessed and was leading police to the body -- all of which was later retracted.

Help, anyone?

I just signed the petition.

See one of the signers below, who apparently lives on Aruba, did not give its name, and seems, in a weird way, to also support a boycott of Aruba. It takes all kinds to make a world, I guess

#1387:
Name: "My opinion"

Yes, I think you shouldn't come to Aruba, this island is for REAL vacationers, adventurous people with a happy life, Dont come here if you are saving money to vacation because your job sucks there.

We are living a good and Godly life here. We dont need frustrated, ignorant visitors on our beautiful and blessed island. God Bless our Government who showed to be a very strong government. GOD BLESS ARUBA !! There rest out there are just .....the rest.

Been away, had lots of reading to do here! Lucy, thanks for the petition - I said: "You don't care? We don't care. All for one!"

Shebacal, you're right about Dompig. I know this because it was covered about three pages back, that he was the one announcing they had confession, body found, then retracted the statement.

I thought decent 'men' had a much better mentality than displayed by Deepak in his 'slut' statement. What I mean is, what does it say about you if you have to resort to sluts for sex? Better men presumably would attract better partners than to have to resort to 'raping sluts!'

PIG!

Found the reference to Dompig in post 2464:

Late on 6-10 “FoxNews,” “AP,” and "CNN" reported that DOMPIG and EDWARD "RUDY" CROES stated that one of the arrested suspects had confessed, and police were being taken to a crime scene. DOMPIG also stated that one of the persons in custody had stated “that something bad happened to NATALEE.”

It seems strange for Scared Monkeys to say about Dompig, "He was not part of the original investigation"

Snip...And still ahead tonight, will this underwater surveillance equipment turn up important clues in the Natalee Holloway investigation? And why is it now being used? Natalee‘s mother joins me next LIVE & DIRECT to talk about the new search on the island of Aruba. Stay tuned.

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

COSBY: New high-tech efforts to find answers tonight in the Natalee Holloway case. And these efforts are going underwater off the island of Aruba to search for any sign of the missing Alabama teen. High-tech underwater surveillance equipment never used before is expected to arrive on the island in just a matter of days.

And joining me now live is the man who‘s responsible for this equipment, Jason Whittle. He‘s the vice president of Ocean Systems Incorporated.

Mr. Whittle, first of all, who contacted you about this equipment?

How‘d you get involved?

JASON WHITTLE, OCEAN SYSTEMS, INC.: Well, we were contacted a couple of weeks ago by a gal that found us on the Internet and asked if we would provide some video equipment.

COSBY: And what makes this different than the other high-tech sort of devices they‘ve used before underwater?

WHITTLE: Well, it‘s very simple to use. Our equipment is used all over the place. A team of just a couple of people can cover a large area in a small amount of time.

COSBY: Why did it take so long? You know, I mean, we‘re looking at it now, it‘s been four months since she went missing. Why‘d it take so long for you to get involved?

WHITTLE: Well, we were really never aware of what they were looking to do. We were contacted a couple of weeks ago. And once we knew that we might be able to be of assistance, we stepped forward.

COSBY: You know, if indeed she was placed there—I know that‘s one of the theories that she may have been placed in the ocean. And hopefully, we could locate some clues. Why do you believe, after now it‘s been four months, that there could even be clues left there?

WHITTLE: Well, that‘s not really for us to determine. I‘m just—you know, our equipment can locate, you know, search large areas. And if there‘s a point of interest, they can send the divers down at that point.

COSBY: Have they given you a sense that there is a point of interest? I know when I was down there we were looking at sort of that point, sort of a direct line, from the fisherman‘s huts, where we believed they spent some time with Natalee. Have you been told that there‘s sort of an area, and how big of an area will you be checking?

WHITTLE: Well, my understanding, that it‘s less than a square mile with the equipment that we‘ve provided. You know, that amount of space can probably be covered, you know, in a week or two. You know, there‘s been all kinds of success stories in the past with areas of similar size.

COSBY: Oh boy. And let‘s hope you do get some success here. When will your equipment actually be arriving? When will we see it sort of put into action?

WHITTLE: Should be there at the beginning of next week.

COSBY: OK, great. Well, we‘ll be watching closely. And I hope that you do get some good leads for this family.

And let‘s now bring in, if we could, Natalee‘s mom, Beth Holloway Twitty. She joins us now LIVE & DIRECT tonight from Birmingham, Alabama.

Beth, are you hopeful with this new device? It sounds like they have had some success before.

BETH HOLLOWAY TWITTY, MOTHER OF NATALEE HOLLOWAY: Oh, yes, Rita, very. And, you know, there have always been areas of concern in the water. And, you know, from fisherman‘s hut area. And also, September the 30th was the last update that we had gotten from the prosecuting attorney. And, of course, they were doing some dives there. And, so, you know, it‘s always been an area of concern.

COSBY: Are you going to be guiding this team and sort of giving them, you know, points of interest? It sounds like they‘ve narrowed it—as he said—one square mile. At least that it‘s an area; it‘s not this huge ocean area to go to.

TWITTY: Well, I believe Art Wood will be spending most of his time with them. And, of course, while we‘re there, if we get any new information from the investigators or the prosecuting attorney, we will certainly communicate that with them. And we‘re also hoping that maybe they could communicate with this group that‘s coming to the island. That would be very helpful.

COSBY: Absolutely. You know, and Art Wood, of course, is the investigator who‘s been working just tirelessly on this case, donating his own time. I mean, he‘s just been amazing down there.

Is he planning to go back there, Beth? And are you planning on it?

What are your plans when you do head down there?

TWITTY: We are going back. And it will be within the next week. And Art will be also arriving about the same time that I am. They‘ll be a couple of different searches going on. One will be concentrating on the water. And the other will be concentrating on some areas of concern on the island itself.

COSBY: Where are those areas of concern on the island? Are some of them the ones that we‘ve talked about, fisherman‘s hut, the lighthouse? Are there new points?

TWITTY: Well, you know, pretty much, Rita, it‘s just the ones that we‘ve already been over. But they just want to be so thorough and see if there‘s any area of concern that they have missed.

COSBY: You bet. How long do you plan to be down there, Beth?

TWITTY: You know, it‘ll probably be less than a week.

COSBY: How do you think it‘s going to be being back there? You stepped back for a bit, you know, sort of rekindled. You still have so much great support with the folks of Joe Mamana. You‘ve got art.

Do you still feel there‘s definitely still a lot of support and a lot of effort—it‘s almost more than ever—to get some answers now?

TWITTY: Oh, absolutely, Rita. And, you know, I feel like every time I return, it‘s, you know, I expect answers. And I feel like we hit it a little more aggressively each time.

And we expect that, you know, also this new taped confession from Deepak will be utilized. It should arrive in the prosecuting attorney‘s office as early as Thursday. And hopefully, they will act upon this, this new evidence.

COSBY: You bet. Because some of his statements, particularly of the fact that he said that they all had sex with your daughter, a lot of people are wondering, “Look, are they going to go after rape charges, at least find something to hold these guys on?”

Beth, you know, the other statement came from the prosecutors, too. Suddenly, there it was, late in the day on Friday. And a lot of people think that that was just sort of a preempted strike because they‘re worried about a boycott.

Should they be worried? And how do you feel about a boycott?

TWITTY: Well, you know, Rita, some requests have been made from some officials in Aruba. And they are requests that should be honored. And, you know, I think that we have worked so hard, and we‘ve tried to, you know, have a good working relationship between them and the FBI.

And, you know, they held them at such an assisted mode and really not let them be in a participatory mode, which they should have from the beginning, or we would not be faced with what we‘re facing right now.

COSBY: Do you see any sort of groundswell effort to go after a boycott by some folks?

TWITTY: Well, I think that Governor Riley has made it perfectly clear some of the family‘s requests. And, you know, they need to be honored. You know, if not, you know, I just don‘t know what we‘ll proceed forward with.

But, you know, we have worked so hard. We‘re trying to have a resolution. We put so many things in place as her family. And, you know, Rita, we have this reward money that I want to make sure I mention every time.

I mean, you know, the family has the million dollar—you know, for Natalee‘s safe return. We have the $250,000 reward just for information leading to her whereabouts. And, you know, we feel like we have done everything we can possibly think of, in trying to have a resolution and, you know, bring forth some information.

COSBY: Well, Beth, we are with you all the way. And I hope you do get some answers this time. And hopefully, maybe Deepak‘s statements are going to trip him up and everybody else and hopefully push this thing forward. I hope so, Beth. Thank you so much.

TWITTY: Oh, absolutely. Thank you so much, Rita.

COSBY: Thank you, Beth.

News of the Deepak tape going to ALE! How will ALE manage to erase or otherwise destroy it, I wonder. Oh yes, fire in the evidence locker. No wait, there was that movie with Dennis Quaid in "The Big Easy", where a magnet was placed next to a video tape in the evidence room.

Trouble in Paradise?

Conflict concerning price of bread

ORANJESTAD — Minister Nilo Swaen (MEP) of Economic Affairs and Finance wants to accord an increase of the price of white bread with 20 cents. The Asociacion di Panaderonan di Aruba doesn’t agree. They want a 40 cent increase.

The bakers also won’t agree to a gradual increase. According to the bakers they are up to their necks and they will have no alternative but to lay off workers if the established maximum price of white bread isn’t raised soon. The bakers announced they will stop making white bread if their demands are not met. Whole wheat bread has no maximum price established by the government as settled in previous negotiations dating back to 1996.

De Asociacion di Panaderonan di Aruba requested Swaen to raise the price of white bread even before the elections. According to the Economic Affairs Administration negotiations will continue on Thursday, to try to break the impasse.

this coverup is a Dutch and elite aruban sycophant operation......deepak, satish, and momma are neither and therefore very expendable, just as the 2 black security guards were to be if they'd have been able to railroad them as they planned.

This is about excusing Paulus, joran, and perhaps keeping the names of some other Dutch 50-yr-olds out of it.

Even more trouble in Paradise:

www.amigoe.com/english

MEP: ‘It’s the fault of employers themselves that the government entity is so large’

ORANJESTAD — The fact that so many people work for the government is largely due to employers, as stated by the MEP governing party in a declaration in which the party reacts to talks the social partners held with the formator Nilo Swaen last week. When the social partners complain to the governor about a government entity that’s too large, MEP believes they’re talking nonsense.

“It’s almost impossible for Arubans to find work in the private sector because employers refuse to hire Arubans preferring instead to hire people that fall into the cheap labor category.” This work is thus yanked away from Arubans, who according to the MEP, do want to work but for a decent pay. Social partners should value Arubans more. They should also come up with plans for the introduction of a supplementary pension, which according to the yellow party is one of the main reasons people want to work for the government. The MEP believes the trade unions of the private sector should also have fought harder on these points. According to the MEP almost every director of a governmental department begs for more personnel. “That’s logical because the drastic growth in the amount of residents also made the demand for service, for more customs officers, more prison guards and more teachers increase.”

OPPA, the pensioner’s union that visited the formator yesterday, doesn’t agree with MEP. OPPA also emphasized that the amount of government workers should be cutback. Furthermore OPPA insisted to Swaen that pensioners must receive the promised indexing this year. OPPA also requested extra attention be spent on the little guy, especially considering the constantly increasing costs of living. Chairman Paul Van Niel stated that he hoped the government has learned from the last 4 years and will do better this time.

The SdU joint trade unions insisted on better communication. According to the trade unions a national dialogue is highly necessary to bridge the contradictions in the community. Seppa, the trade union for government personnel, had a separate meeting with the formator. The Seppa believes civil service should be taken to a higher level. Seppa also wanted some attention be paid to salaries of government officials, the increasing poverty and also supported the proposal by SdU calling for a national dialogue.

The environment organization StimAruba also visited Swaen yesterday. The organization made a plea fro more attention to be paid to the environment and to limit the uncurbed construction of the country. Chairman Olinda Rasmijn believes there should be another government department to handle environment matters and spatial order. Rasmijn would really like to see the Public Housing, Spatial Order and Environment Administration reestablished.

Here's an article on Ambassador John Rood. I'll excerpt parts of it.

http://www.stpetetimes.com/2005/10/10/Worldandnation/In_the_Bahamas__rapes.shtml

When Natalee Holloway, an 18-year-old Alabama student, disappeared during a graduation trip in June - and when U.S. media swarmed that tiny island nation, all but demanding the case be solved on cable television - the bad publicity sent shock waves throughout every government in the Caribbean.

Rood's cause was suddenly a top priority.

These days, island authorities are meeting with Rood once a month to update him on the progress of the rape investigations. And two weeks ago, the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism gathered 500 of the island's hotel managers, tour operators and police officials to discuss how the island chain can reduce all crimes against visitors.

"Aruba has raised everyone's awareness of how criminal situations can affect countries that are dominated by tourism," Rood said.

----

"I think everyone looks at Aruba and thinks, "My goodness. We wouldn't want that to happen here,"' Patterson said.

Thanks, RGVTX. A great find.

...the bad publicity sent shock waves throughout every government in the Caribbean.

The bad publicity sent shock waves..... NOT the crime NOT the lack of proper investigation, NOT the bad treatment by the gov't to the victim's family. They caused their own bad publicity. They are interested only in $$$$. May they all rot in the sun.

THANK YOU BETH FOR THE WARRIOR THAT YOU ARE!!
