I love that reply Dr. DN. I am going to use that in the future! Thanks for that great come-back.

I too am sick about this.

They took their opportunity now that the US has a major catastrophe on our hands.

I can't even say what I think of the aruban "authorities" at this point.

"What's going to happen now?"

I believe that PVDS will make a "deal" with the prosecutors while our media is not watching to do what they do with 65% of the criminal cases in Aruba. Several forums that talk about NH have posters saying that the judge used the Ponson case as precedent in his decision yesterday. Ponson, if that is the correct name, is the B'more baseball player from Aruba who punched a judge when he was home and was charged with assault. He served a grand total of 11 days because he made a deal to pay a fine and returned to play ball until he was booted from the team after his third DUI here.

"Also on Nancy Grace it was stated that the Judge barred Joran from attending college in Florida. As if he would dare to."

The FBI has the final say. If someone is even suspected of committing a crime, they can be refused a student visa. Also drinkers and drug users. That sure leaves him out.

"Sounds like he's (Jossy) done pretty good for himself under their system."

Yes, but he does much better when his cronies, the ones he owns, are in office. They are all crooks. Some are owned by him; some are owned by others.

You are on target... this is unbelievable... Beth does need to talk to the American people... with her poised, self confident, warm self.. perhaps next week when the public has become weary of the hurricane reporting.. a boycott is the first step... I am SO ready!

Our international friends must be getting a great bang out of how we are conducting ourselves in NO... all around.. the refugees, the looters, the police (did I hear correctly - 60% of NO police are not reporting for work??)FEMA and etc.. our under belly is truly showing.. all because we have not had the backbone (guts!) to address these issues honestly.. when close to 70% of the city is low income ... most fourth and fifth generation welfare participants.. believing that they have rights to "everything" because they are poor.. we have created a desperate situation..with huge dollar infusions over the past five decades we have created a society that shows total ignorance of personal responsibility.. absolutely no capacity for self-determination or personal honor...our forefathers must be rolling over in their graves..

At some point, at some time our Nation must have an honest, open engagement regarding welfare, education, employment and above all.. the need for personal expectations grounded in reality.. we are not all going to be millionaires etc.. we don't all have fancy cars and TV and what ever it is that American's seem to prize so much...

Given my intense interest in social structures and their human and economic results.. I know that I will spend some time studying this very soon.. bringing together the incredible upheaval of California (we do not recognize the extent of mistrust/unrest under the radar in Calif).. the Washington State election horror.. the insane activities we deem acceptable in our larger cities.. the 9.11 impact (the $$$s thrown at the survivors.. now I am sure NO poverty families expect to be treated the same way .. a Million $ for each family????).. etc al.. how all these fit together to under mind our society and increase our lazy acceptance of uncivilized behavior...

Now to tie this back to Aruba.. if we are not vigil in how we continue to develop our own democracy, we will find ourselves mirroring the insanity of the Netherlands and Aruba... we talk about the Islands being underdeveloped, in a third nation category.. not abiding by acceptable rules of justice..what we are witnessing on TV is third world by our definition...

Aruba is ignoring one of our daughters..to them she is just one tourist .. to us, she is a symbol of our nation's youth.. our own daughter.. life is expendable in Aruba .. and guess what... it could be in NO....

NO, Aruba ... closely related.. different cultures but same results...

Hope this makes some sense ... I am so overwhelmed with the Aruba decision and NO I may not be coherent...

Will try another cup of coffee and a few deep breaths..

If you have actually read this far.. God Bless You!

A Dutch teen suspected in Natalee Holloway's disappearance will be released but must meet certain conditions or go back to prison, his lawyer said Thursday.

Prosecutors had asked that Joran van der Sloot - who was arrested June 9 as a prime suspect in Holloway's disappearance - be held in prison for an additional 30 days.

At the same time, van der Sloot had asked for the detention to be suspended because of "special circumstances," said his lawyer, Antonio Carlo.

From the article

Dave Holloway, father of the missing Mountain Brook teen, said he had heard van der Sloot was being released on house arrest, but Carlo said that was not the case.

Thanks for this article from the 'Birmingham News'. People have been wondering how the T/H families have been faring.

Holloway, who lives in Meridian, Miss,. said he hadn't heard from officials on the case because his home and office were without power and phone due to damage from Hurricane Katrina.

After judge releases JVDS, Aruban coral bridge collapses. Retribution?

Natural Coral Bridge, an Aruba Tourist Attraction, Collapses

By Michael Norton Associated Press Writer
Published: Sep 2, 2005

ORANJESTAD, Aruba (AP) - A natural coral bridge that spanned a cove along Aruba's west coast collapsed before dawn Friday, destroying one of the island's biggest tourist attractions.

The bridge, the largest of its kind in the Caribbean, was 25 feet high and 100 feet long, said Tourism Minister Edison Briesen. The cause was not immediately known, he said.

"It's a very sad day for Aruba and for its tourism," Briesen said. "A picture of the bridge appears in almost every promotional flier, and more tourists visit it than any other attraction."

He stood among hundreds of Arubans who traveled along a bumpy dirt road to see what remained of the national treasure.

"The people who saw it always marveled," said Julie Lacle, a 26-year-old taxi driver who often took tourists to the bridge. "They couldn't believe how beautiful it was."

The bridge, a formation of coral limestone cut out from thousands of years of pounding waves and strong winds, was a popular picnic spot. Hundreds of visitors walked across it each year.

A crack had appeared at one end of the bridge several years ago, said Jose Joseph, who owns a nearby snack and souvenir shop.

Aruba has several natural bridges, some of them difficult to reach. A shorter bridge is located next to the one that collapsed.

"We lost the mother. But we still have the daughter," Joseph said.

The bridge's collapse brought more bad news to an island that has been under the scrutiny of the U.S. media for three months since the disappearance of Alabama teenager Natalee Holloway.

Aruba, an island of 97,000 people, depends on tourism for 70 percent of its gross domestic product. It welcomes 728,000 visitors a year and an additional 550,000 cruise ship passengers. Some 70 percent are from the United States.

AP-ES-09-02-05 1402EDT

Aruba, "Where is America's daughter"? Alabama and Mississippi lost their daughter, who everybody believes is a national American treasure, too.
