CHARLES CROES, TALKED TO DUTCH SUSPECT: A major friend of mine called me up. He was working with Natalee's mom to help them find Natalee.
VAN SUSTEREN: Why would he call you? What is your occupation that would be a reason he would call you?
C. CROES: Well, I have a sail rental company. And there was apparently a phone call made. And he was calling me betting or hoping that the phone call was made from one of our phones, and so that's why he called me.
VAN SUSTEREN: About what time did he call you?
C. CROES: He called me at 11:30.
VAN SUSTEREN: What did he say to you?
C. CROES: He told me that he needed my help. And I asked him what it was about. And he told me that it had to do something with a cell phone. And I didn't relate it to anything but work at that point.
And then he said, "There is a possibility that a phone call was made using one of our phones." And I said, "OK." And he said, "It's very, very important." I said, "Fine," and I asked him to go into further details, and he did. And then I made arrangements to go see him.
VAN SUSTEREN:After you and Beth listened to that phone call several times and hung up with the person in the states, what did you do next?
C. CROES: After that, we spoke a while. And then we left that location with the intention of going to the Holiday Inn to continue meeting. On the way there, a young man and I were sitting in my car. And on the way there, instinctively, I wanted to go to drive off, pull over to the cabana area, just to look to see if perhaps she was there.

one little correction is in order.....
"C. CROES: Well, I have a sail rental company."
should read:
C. CROES: Well, I have a CELL rental company.
Please link the previous 4 Natalee Threads to this one. Some late comers are wanting to re-hash Natalee's carelessness and frankly, I'm sick of that talk. Those points have been covered ad nauseam and people who want to dwell on them need to go back to the beginning and read.

So there was a call made from Natalee to someone in her group, and possibly even to Natalee's home, both around 3 a.m. Obviously no one answered because they were all asleep. No one knew she was drugged and in trouble until much later.
"I don't know these people" sounds like maybe Joran wasn't even there at that time. Could this mean that Paulus and maybe someone else had her, and were raping her? Maybe Joran is up to take the fall, sit in jail for a couple summer months, and then get out and they all go live in Holland?? Maybe she faked being passed out and they left her in a room long enough for her to make a couple of calls.
And when they went to the VDS home that night, could Joran have been home all along? I mean, who doesn't hear the sirens and bullhorns until the 3rd try? Probably Paulus and Joran were in a huddle. They could have decided to have Joran hide, they wouldn't search right away with no warrant (and his best friend is the chief of police), and Paulus would send them on a goose chase to a casino.
Who knows what evidence Joran could have gotten rid of quickly? But as it turns out, the VDS house was NEVER searched, was it? Computers were taken but I haven't heard of the crime lab going through there.
More speculation: someone on these threads mentioned recently that if Joran did this all the time, why aren't the other American girls he's taken advantage of coming forward? Maybe because the girls were procured for his Dad?? Who's going to come forward and accuse a "judge"? Whose best friend is the chief of police? I wonder how often Mrs. VDS is not around. Daddy sounds like a real player. And yet he is unattractive while his son is more handsome.
