So he will be kept in jail until Natalee shows up!

Not, that is a good idea. Ought to scare him! :)

I wouldn't be too surprised if the Holiday Inn and/or the Aruban gov. is picking up the tab for the Twitty's.

I think the arrogant American media (with the notable exception of Greta, and maybe a few Fox reporters such as Rick Leventhal) are HURTING the search for Natalee by causing undertandable resentment amongst Arubans.

Those in charge of this investigation, those with any real authority (as opposed to some cable news commentators) have been something far short of impressive. Whatever their legal system, the majority of questions have been about the investigation.

As I remember one of the security guards originally detained hoped that authorities would burn in hot lava (or some such thing). There have been numerous reports about Aruba LE refusing the FBI's assistance even though we know they have a track record around the world of successfully partnering with authorities in investigations. One of the search team spokesmen has sworn off talking to LE in Aruba because he's sick of the politics.

I'm no fan of O'Reilly or Geraldo but to think they have a role (Fox News isn't even broadcast there as I understand it) in impeding an investigation in a land of documented corruption and political objectives that may put them at odds with Holland, just doesn't make sense.

It's central to the whole case. If there is such widespread crime and corruption, why aren't there people crawling out of the woodwork to say, "The same thing happened to me!". It's because the place is no more dangerous or corrupt than anyplace else, but you have to be careful when you travel and her (and others, like chaperones) decision-making process broke down and it resulted in a terrible tragedy.

They should never have gone to C&C's, especially without adult chaperones. Bad decisions carry consequences. And before I'm attacked, I'm not saying she deserved what happened, only that it made what happened possible.

The bad decision opened up the door for all the evil to come in. I don't want the evil to slide at all, but a little public discussion of the foolishness of these young girl in Aruba party trips would be helpful and perhaps save the next young life.

You're very late to this thread and most of us 'regulars' don't appreciate your armchair quarterbacking at this late stage. You're not coming up with anything new that hasn't already been discussed ad nauseam. Feel free to start at the beginning of the thread if you want to see your same points over and over again....

The biggest complaint against what their system did is that they arrested the Security Guards on the mere word of the three who were last seen with Natalee, they let those three go and they did not have or borrow the forensic search capability that was crucial to finding the forensic truth in this case.

I think this is the biggest factor. I think were it our LE, that soemone might have spoken with the security guards, but doubtful that they would have been arrested. Meanwhile, I do think the 3 guys would have been taken in for questioning and their car looked at, right off the bat.

I'm not sure just when they were first spoken to, though so it may have already been too late for evidence to have been apparent.

They are more corrupt. It's the perfect money launderinbg spot. Interpol estimates over 1 trillion! With the huge money laundering comes the drug smuggling. Go to Interpols stats. Even in Europe (throughout) the dutch have their fingers in everyones pie. Not the Italians, as many people assume--the dutch.

I understand your point, and we all are entitled to our own opinions. Believe me, I never put anyone down. But I take it you're not 18 years old.

From the article:

"...Ben King . In this particular case documents disappeared, forensic reports were over looked and witnesses were denied, these documents were in the favor of Alexander Mathew.

"Paul van der Sloot is a high ranking official in the judicial system and is close friends with Ben King, whom now works at the prosecution office.

"King was reportedly seen visiting Paul van der Sloot at his home when the Arubian police were performing a search of the van der Sloot residence.

"Mathew's entire case was tampered with.

"King said that his friend Paul van der Sloot helped him in the Mathew case.

"How many cases has and will Paul van der Sloot help cover up?

"Mathew was isolated for two years and eight months to ensure that the truth would not surface. The Arubian press and the minister of justice, Rudy Croes played a large roll in the defamation of his character to justify his isolation.

"Now that the truth has surfaced, certain politicians and senators have raised concern that this corruption will repeat itself in the Holloway case and justice will not be served."

The thought occured to me today: Perhaps the brothers really don't know what happened. They may have just driven J and N to the beach and dropped them off. They may have felt pressured to lie to protect J and possibly PVDS because of PVDS's power and connections. And they may feel they need to leave Aruba because they changed their story and were no longer willing to stick to the story J and PVDS asked them to tell. Thus, they may no longer be safe on Aruba. Perhaps their statements can be used in court, even if they themselves are not present.

Just a theory.

Nope, and the only way my 18 year-old would go would be if my husband or I were one of the chaperones. And I'll tell you what, those kids might all hate us by the end of the trip, but they would have abided the rules or they would've been sent home. The supervision was terrible. I'm sure the parents who allowed their kids to go expected more.

Please link the previous 4 Natalee Threads to this one. Some late comers are wanting to re-hash Natalee's carelessness and frankly, I'm sick of that talk. Those points have been covered ad nauseam and people who want to dwell on them need to go back to the beginning and read.

demkicker is merely pointing out that this series of threads has gone on for some time now. the points that you are raising have been made over and over previously. everyone acknowledges that Carlos and Charlies was a bad place to go, poor judgment has been established etc etc. No one is denying it, and as has been pointed out, it has been discussed for the PAST MONTH. and what is to be gained from it at this point? nothing. it happened and we are now merely interested in having Natalee retrieved and returned to her family. of course you are free to feel superior that you would never get yourself into such a fix, but the rest of us are merely interested in having this horrible tragedy resolved.

Do you know if Beth and Jug are retired?

No, they aren't retired.

And indeed what she says does cross the line.

BS! What I would say and do would cross the line but nothing Beth has said does, IMO! She has more proof than she is telling the general public because she has been told that it will harm the case. That is the only reason she hasn't gone public with it on the advice of her US and Aruban attorneys.

I'm sorry for not registering with the thread police and running my ideas by the "regulars" before posting. The "torture joran, boycott aruba, detain everyone" idea isn't new either, but yet you don't seem to be complaining about that. How about you post what you want and I post what I want. If it bores you, move on to the next post, ok?
