ARUBA Joran van der Sloot will lodge an appeal against the decision to keep him behind bars for another 60 days. Also the Public Prosecutor will probably appeal the decisions of the examining magistrate, which means that also the Court of Appeals will have to consider the question whether the brothers Kalpoe were erroneously released.
The three judges of the Court of Appeals will probably decide on this this coming Friday.
If the Court of Appeals decides that the complaints and grounds to keep Joran detained are still in place, they will confirm the opinion of the examining magistrate. But the Court can also nullify the decision of the examining magistrate and in that case, Joran will be released. The Court can also confirm the decision and change the detention period to one to four weeks. In that case the Court determines what has to be done in that period and at the end of it, the Court will decide whether to extend the detention or not. The OM will appeal the release of the brothers Kalpoe. They still consider the two brothers as suspects. The OM can also appeal the cancellation of Jorans restrictions on receiving visitors, reading newspapers and allowing his lawyers to be present at his interrogations.
Official Statement On The Disappearance Of Natalee Holloway
Updated: July 6, 2005
In response to the disappearance of Natalee Holloway, the Government of Aruba and the Aruba Tourism Authority pledge their full support and cooperation to Ms. Holloways family.
A thorough investigation has been underway for several weeks now with the support of both local and international authorities. The massive island-wide search is taking place on land and sea. Both the FBI and Dutch police have sent in experts to work in conjunction with local law enforcement authorities. Currently, Texas EquuSearch, a non-profit organization from the U.S., whose purpose to provide volunteer horse mounted search and recovery for lost and missing persons, are also on island aiding in the search for Natalee. The Dutch Marines, Aruba Search and Rescue Teams and Coast Guard, who have provided helicopters to search from the air, have provided additional assistance. Concerned Aruban citizens have also joined the national search efforts along with Americans residing on the island and tourists.
This comes as a shock to Aruba where crime against tourists is almost non-existent. Aruba is one of the safest islands in the Caribbean and a favorite amongst travelers with a repeat visitor rate of 40%, the highest of any Caribbean destination.
The island extends its sincerest thoughts and prayers to Ms. Holloways family and friends for a positive outcome.
About Aruba:
- Aruba is one of the only islands in the Caribbean with US pre-clearance facilities (Customs and Immigration) at Queen Beatrix International Airport Aruba.
- Thousands of visitors, about 40%, from around the world return to the island each year, in fact 30% of Arubas room inventory are timeshare units.
- Aruba has one of the highest standards of living in the Caribbean with an average income of US $22,000 (Central Bank of Aruba, 2004).
- The island has a literacy rate of 97% (Central Bank of Aruba, 2004).
- Arubas unemployment rate is 7% (Central Bank of Aruba, 2004).
First half hour of Greta is all about the London bombings.
I hope Greta hasn't abandoned Beth Twitty, and I hope she wasn't just using Beth and Jug for ratings. :(
I do not believe that Greta used Beth in any way. Freeper maggiefluffs posted a link earlier today from Greta's log or you can go to Greta's log to find out the circumstance by which Greta is doing what she is doing tonight.
Really...same name and everything?
Is she a consultant for the show, do you know?
One of the consultants for "CSI" is an ex-CSI agent whose cases have been used practically verbatim on the show.
Thanks for the info.
"It was too late. It was too late."
Haunting.
"with the rumored "I don't know these people" call to the student's cell at a later time makes me think the 3 creeps raped her and then handed her off to others."
If 3 creeps had raped me and then handed me off to others, I think my phone call would've involved words other than "I don't know these people." "I don't know these people" sounds like someone who is concerned for their safety. Had she just been raped and handed off, the call would have been a little more hysterical and the statements about the call(s) that have been released so far would have said that she called crying or in hysterics or that she said she was raped. If it came out that she called and stated, "I don't know these people," then it also would have came out that she was crying, in hysterics, and/or raped as well. In my opinion, the phone call took place immediately before "something bad" happened to her.
I also find it hard to believe that the 3 creeps would have raped her and then handed her off to others who paused to let her make phone call. They could have shoved her into a room and locked her in there but had that happened, again, I think the phone call would have involved something more than, "I don't know these people."
A very very moving interview. A mother's instinct isn't often wrong. Beth knew in her heart that the men present that night--Deepak Kalpoe, Paul Van der Sloot, and Joran Van der Sloot--knew what had happened to Natalee.
Her feelings were also strong that Natalee had been in that house.
I wonder if we will ever know.
God help this beautiful tragic heroine, Beth Holloway-Twitty, and please bring her the answers she needs to know, Dear Lord.
This thread is about to detour again.
*sigh*
Beth stated that it would be second hand info regarding the confrontation that transpired at the VDS the morning of 6/1 because she was sitting in the back of the car.
Got phone records (phone calls every 15 minutes from her son. ???
Beth could not understand why they were leaving going to the HI instead of getting a warrant to go inside the VDS home.
Joran approaching her while she was in the car. She tells Joran that she wants her daughter and she wants her now. Joran hits his chest throws his head back and states "What do you want me to do, what do you want me to do. This exchange repeated 5 times according to Beth. Beth says to Greta, it was if what could he do. It was too late. There was not anything he could do about it. He did not care. Then that is when the 98 hour nightmare began.
Trying to control FReepers is like trying to herd cats.
But then you knew that.
Did you make any sense of what Beth was saying or meant about the phone calls to her son every 15 minutes?
" God help this beautiful tragic heroine, Beth Holloway-Twitty, and please bring her the answers she needs to know, Dear Lord."
A big AMEN, to your prayer!!
Yes, unfortunately I do know that, though I wouldn't call these folk freepers.
He actually said that on his site?!
Which site was it do you remember?
