The traditional mass is in local language. That's the meaning of Pentacost and the practice of the apostles as they spread the word of Jesus throughout various countries.
What's the point of making people read along when you can give them God's word directly in a language they understand. You folks have a strange need to do something nonsensical.

I hope they don't do this in the parishes for all masses. It's like worshipping in Chinese to me. I'm not RC but I enjoy worshipping with other Christians who are.

Hear, hear! (especially wrt the music . . . )
Here's our choir (we made the front of the Archdiocesan paper - in color and above the fold! Kinda sparse attendance 'cause it was set up after Mass, and it was the Sunday after Easter . . . . but there we are in all our glory. And we DID really sing for the photog . . . < g > )
Chant, Sacred Classics Reverberate Again in Parishes
The article is very interesting because it discusses the return to traditional music - chant and Renaissance polyphony. Our choirmaster (who is a genius) is extensively quoted.

Whoever follows Marini will have orders to restore the traditional style and choreography of papal ceremonies in St. Peter's.
Choreogrpahy?
You do an eclectic celebration of the dance! You do Fosse Fosse Fosse Fosse Fosse! You do Martha Graham, Martha Graham, Martha Graham, or Twyla, Twyla, Twyla, or Michael Kidde, Michael Kidde, Michael Kidde, Michael Kidde, or Madonna, Madonna, Madonna, Madonna... but you keep it all inside.

Help me out here. Why are Catholics so emotionally vested in a language that not one in ten of them can speak? Maybe it's just my protestant sensibilities, but I don't get the attraction to a service in a language you don't understand. Can someone explain this to me?

What happened to this perfectly innocuous thread? Why has it been moved to the Smokey Back room? Do you know?
