Now now. Making things up is not reasonable discourse. I'm not as bad as you think I am. I'm not a practitioner of eugenics. In fact I have a debilitating disease myself and will die of it in ten years or so ... if you will let me. It's one of the ones that you can keep someone 'alive' for several extra years if you use extraordinary means.
I plan to take a loooooooooong walk in the woods one of these days.
That's fine if it's what you wish, and I hope and pray nothing but good for you. I have made the same decision for myself.
That's not what this whole brouhaha is about, though. It's about who presumes to speak for another human being, when voice is denied her. It's about erring on the side of protecting the weakest and saddest among us. And it's not about someone allowing a natural death to take place, but someone with a vested interest in not allowing another to live--or even have ice chips on her parched tongue while that life is tortuously stripped from her.
