Mother is a black woman, poor,
couldn't afford feeding tube care,
and hospital pulled the tube,
against mother's wishes.
Public at large didn't care.
Please don't misrepresent the Sun Hudson case. There is an article that is hotlinked up the thread. The child's care and the mother's legal expenses were paid for by the hospital. The issue was entirely different with this child.
That is an unfair representation of this case of Sun. He was born with a syndrome that made his rib cage way too small for his developing lungs to work properly. He was on a ventillator, had no hope period. He was put on a ventillator shortly after birth, was in pain, and was doomed to die shortly from the process of growth, if not from pneumonia or other disease. His ribs were too small for his lungs.
It didn't have to do with feeding tube costs. It had to do that he was born dying.
Sun Hudson case wasn't about a feeding tube, it was about a baby with a rare form of dwarfism. The baby was on a respirator, because of the skeletal dysplasia. The growth of the skeleton didn't keep up with the lungs, so the rib cage was restricting the lungs. There is no room for the lungs to grow, so babies with this deformity suffocate as the lung capacity can't keep up with the needs of the body, hence the need for the respirator. The skull also impinges upon the brain in these cases.
Where was Randall terry on March 15th, when Sun's plug was pulled? Where was Jesse?
