I tried to post to you before, and was informed that this thread was pulled, because it was a flamewar...thats utter nonsense...this thread is one of the few where people can agree, or disagree with one another, and not get called nasty name, wont get threatened, and wont be fed lies and gossip and innuendo as truth....
I have read many of your posts over the years and have enjoyed them...however, you and I may disagree on the case of Terri Shiavo, tho not as much as you might think...
I have said it many, many times before, but I will say it again so that you understand, in black and white, exactly how I feel...This case is not about what you want, nor what Pres Bush wants, not what Gov Bush wants, not what Tom DeLay wants, not what the Schindlers want, not about what Michael Shiavo wants....its about one thing and one thing only...what would have Terri Shiavo wanted....you dont know what she wanted, any more than I do, or anyone else does...I am not swayed that even Michael Shiavo know what his wife would have wanted...and on this score, I think that we should have erred on the side of life, and left the feeding tube in...thats just my personal view...
This thread, now, seems to one, where people can discuss and agree or disagree with each other, without fear of verbal thuggery, without threats, without being fed lies, and innuendo as being fact...
There is widespread hysteria of the worst sort on these threads on FR....people have become vicious, rabid, seething, and just plain awful....
No one ever changed anyones view, by lying to them, by bashing them over the head verbally, by threatening them, by flaming them...I want facts, to decide this case, not a bunch of made up stuff, made up to support a certain position...
Now my heart is with the Schindlers, desperate to save their daughter...I know how sick to their stomach they feel, I know how they see all their efforts come to nothing...I know, because I had to watch my older son die....
He had a terrible form of leukemia, that is rare, and usually it is fatal....I would have done anything to save him, as would have my husband, my younger son and the doctors and the nurses....it was not to be, and he died...I would have given my very life for his, but God does not work that way...
I just want you to know where I am coming from, what my experience was as a mother, watching her child die...
But I simply cannot stand the name calling, the threats, the calls to violence, the flamming, the lies, the gossip, the half truths, the mudslinging that have taken over FR...people are not allowed to dissent honestly....they have to be called names, and worse than that,..
And all of that is an extreme embarrasment to FR...there are tons and tons of lurkers out there...do you honestly want those lurkers to see the pure filth and drivel that is now spewing forth from all these Terri Shiavo threads...what has been going on, is more likely to turn off reasoning people, than it is to bring them to ones way of thinking...
Good grief, is this really what conservative thought has come to?.....if you cannot get your way, do you really approve of getting your points across by threatening, lying, name calling, calling for violence and just in general wallowing down in the mud?....Is that really healthy debate?,....I dont think so...its pathetic and sad, and just embarrassing...
And then this thread gets pulled, because its proclaimed a Flamewar...I would like to see it compared to the trash that has been going on around on other threads, and then I would wonder, why it was pulled...either it was pulled by mistake, or it was pulled for some other unknown reason, which I dont even want to speculate on...

Well me and my hubby both use fr almost daily. He has an account but has never posted anything.
Are they necessarily wrong?
Here's a trick, highlight what you want to copy, right click, select something like 'view selection source' and you'll get all the text with the html.
If you post that report as its own thread, be sure to ping all of us, 'Kay? We'll be needing a new thread soon, anyway. that'd be a good place to start fresh.
And if there is 'fact', real fact coming out, that is one thing...if this 'fact' is something made up, then that is quite another...
I honestly dont have the time to read your links today, I should not even be on the computer today(must get my Easter house cleaning done)...but I have bookmarked them for further review...
So, just asking, what is your solution?....many of us here do wish that Terri could live..

The current, generally accepted applications to terminal illness or persistent vegetative state define artificial feeding as artificial life support that may be withheld or withdrawn. In 1989, the Florida Legislature permitted the withdrawal of artificial nutrition and hydration under very specific circumstances. In 1999, following extensive bipartisan efforts, life-prolonging procedures were redefined as "any medical procedure, treatment, or intervention, including artificially provided sustenance and hydration, which sustains, restores, or supplants a spontaneous vital function." It is noteworthy that the general principle of artificial nutrition as artificial life support that may be removed in terminal and even vegetative state conditions is reflected in nearly all state's laws and within the guidelines of end of life care enunciated by the American Conference of Catholic Bishops and other religious denominations.
