Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist said Friday that subpoenas issued by Sen. Mike Enzi compelling Terri Schiavo to appear at a March 28 congressional hearing made it a crime to disconnect her feeding tube - and threatened anyone who interfered with her testimony with jail.

In a statement issued by the majority leader's office, Frist said:

"Federal criminal law protects witnesses called before official Congressional committee proceedings from anyone who may obstruct or impede a witness’ attendance or testimony."

"More specifically," said the Senate's top Republican, "the law protects a witness from anyone who - by threats, force, or by any threatening letter or communication - influences, obstructs, or impedes an inquiry or investigation by Congress.

"Anyone who violates this law is subject to criminal fines and imprisonment," Frist said.

That's just about what they want to do. Look at what the Dutch have been up to! This is where the Progressives want to take us!

Congress will work weekends to grandstand in order to pass a bill they know will be declared unconstitutional as soon as it hits the courts. However, they're too tired to work weekends to stop a filibuster of conservative judicial nominees. Congress gets what it deserves.

It's interesting to see the pro-abortion ghouls of the Democrat Party frightened into supporting today's legislation. They've got nowhere to run on this issue and know how they would be rightfully tarred as the "Death Party" if they were to be honest about their real position on Terri Schavio.

"And take the kookie/whacked-out Anti-Abortion Pro-Lifers with them."

Would you characterize yourself as highly intelligent, Pro-Abortion, and Anti-Life?

Bill Frist can go to h*ll.
And take the kookie/whacked-out Anti-Abortion Pro-Lifers with them.

The hypocrisy stinks to high heaven in here.

Really? What 'hypocrisy' is bothering you this Palm Sunday?

More government interferance on personal issues.
We loathe government interference on most personal matters.
Allowing them to interfere in this only emboldens them to be our annoited protector and expands the scope of government interferance in our private lives and private decisions.

Just a pragmatic citizen who loves President Bush and my country...and who wants the Right-to-Lifers to get in the back seat and STFU.

President Bush is one of those "kookie/whacked-out" pro-lifers who wish would go to hell.
And you are hardly an example of an 'adult' with your puerile ranting.

Well thanks to people who have no regard for life we have moved from exterminating babies to exterminating the severely disabled. Hitler would be proud. Who's next?

If you or any of your type pulled one of your death culture stunts (abortion, euthanasia, etc.) back during the time of the founding fathers when there were real patriots, they would have made sure that you were swinging at the end of a rope, pronto!

You mean as in say....SALEM, MASSACHUSETTS?

Get lost!

Well, if the right-to-lifers refuse to STFU, and won't get into the back seat, WTF YOU gonna do?

Don't make everyone laugh! If you love this country then don't turn it into the Netherlands. Boy, talk about confused!

Ronald Reagan loved this country. Here's what he had to say about this issue and 'this country':

Ronald Reagan's record reveals that no issue was of greater importance to him than the dignity and sanctity of all human life. "My administration is dedicated to the preservation of America as a free land," he said in 1983. "And there is no cause more important for preserving that freedom than affirming the transcendent right to life of all human beings, the right without which no other rights have any meaning." One of the things he regretted most at the completion of his presidency in 1989, he told me, was that politics and circumstances had prevented him from making more progress in restoring protection for unborn human life.

I hate to correct you here (BTW I thinnk it terrible what they are doing to this poor woman) but the main criminal in this whole fiasco (the judge) is a republican.

The democrats only have to start hammering this point or ignore the whole process entirely to come out smelling of roses.

"Murder under color of office. It is murder."

The ACLU claims "lethal injection" is "cruel and unusual".
They have just set a new standard.
From now on, death row inmates should just be locked in their cells,
and starved to death!
