You know the only "evidence" that death would be what she wanted is the heresay assertion of some off-hand remark she made after watching a TV movie. I'd hate to die because someone remembered I'd once said "just kill me if THAT ever happened" once upon a time.
Unfortunately she's not the first and she won't be the last.
And I've said more here today about Terri Schiavo than I ever had before. I guess I better shut up now, lest I find myself denounced by Sean Hannity and Opinion Journal.com
Those of you who think that she should be starved and dehydrated to death seem to think that she's not sentient enough to feel that pain. How do you explain that she is being tortured these last few years if she isn't sentient to know it? You are speaking out of both sides of your mouth.
Also, since we now have word that Terri has been able to communicate, shouldn't we ask her now what she wants, rather than relying on what her estranged husband said that she said roughly 20 years ago? The reason we have statutes of limitations is for the simple reason that people minds are not exactly conducive to remembering all the details and particulars of events.
Michael Schiavo is a perfect example in that in courtroom testimony, he can't remember when he and Terri moved to Florida, how long he held jobs for, how he found Terri, face up or face down. Why should his attention to this particular 'story' (about Terri's alleged wishes) be so definite, when he remembers so few things?

well, let's look at this. hundreds, if not thousands, of years of jurisprudence have held that suicide is not to be condoned. Is it torture to prevent someone from committing suicide? If generation upon generation, continent to continent, through the ebbs and flows in the marketplace of ideas held that it is not, do you disregard the accumulated wisdom and say that it is? Do you go a step further -- a very big step -- and hold that, if you believe that it is torture to prevent someone from committing suicide, that your belief should be imposed upon Terry Schiavo (or anyone else, for that matter)?
Are you implying that Terry Schiavo is being kept alive against her will? Can you provide concrete evidence to support that claim? And, if you cannot, do you hold that hearsay is grounds enough to kill a completely defenseless person?
The only toruture going on is what is being done to logic on the pro death side of this case.
She certainly doesn't look tortured to me. She appears happy actually in the videos. You know her personally no doubt since you know she wants to die however, so I must take your word for it right?
