I will make a prediction.
The illegal immigration debate will start when Hillary brings it up in her move to the right in a couple of years or sooner. Rather than let her have the issue we will finally take action. Repair fences, increase border patrol, use military if absolutely necessary and basically get "real" about protecting a very open border.
Those that equate advocating a strong position on protecting our borders with opposing Bush are very short sided IMHO.

I concur, and it's a d@mn shame the issue is political instead of a legitimate policy to protect and enforce American sovereignty for Americans -- especially in light of 9/11.

Hillry will transition this issue from a security/sovereignty issue to a 'religious' humanitarian rights issue. She will need more votes and this will become a 'religious' "What would Jesus do" issue.

Uh .. well, uh ... Hillary herself could be stationed at the border and she'd even scare off those young male immigrants with one look at her. They might turn around and go back thinking this is representative of the typical middle-age American female.
Not that Hillary is that unattractive but well, uh, uh ..
Think I've said enough ; >
Disclaimer: This was all said in jest but Hillary ain't no "looker"

The day after we get 50.1% of the Hispanic vote, the Democrats and MSM will slam the border shut with their bare hands.
It is reported that we pulled 40% of the Hispanic vote in the 2004 election. Rumor is we really got 44%. That is making the Dems VERY nervous, and some of them are thinking twice about keeping the border wide open.
We may get more votes for border reform than expected in this Congress.
