Turns out, the Linux box was shorting the power supply in the case somehow.

Is it getting hot? If a fan isn't working properly, computers tend to shut down.

I've got a small office fan blowing right across the top of it. It's also resting on four plastic blocks to allow airflow underneath the board. About half the systems I test with at work are caseless and running on an open bench.

I've even seen what happens when a boards thermal overheat protection system fails. Some of the testing we do uses sealed temp controlled chambers. If the cooling compressor moderation circuit fails, the heat from the board running will accumulate. It'll get hot enough to melt the solder holding the parts on to the board, delaminate the board itself, and cause all the insulation to drip off the wires.

Icky looking stuff... ;-)

I'm gonna bail out now, I've been fighting sleep for too long. It's time to arrange a truce.

But I was thinking, Tomorrow should be a good day for an excursion to the surrounding countryside. I'll arrange the transportation, you folks think about where you'd like to visit.
