"two-thirds of Americans said they wanted to see creationism taught to public-school science pupils alongside evolution."

66% of Americans are in favor of using public tax dollars on teaching an unprovable, silly religious story? That there are that many ignorant people is pretty scary.

That is what JFKerry keeps saying every morning as he looks in the mirror.

I wouldn't use the word silly. There's no reason to inflame people.

Science has proven one or two things over the years, and people who choose not to believe evolution are living in denial of a proven fact. That doesn't mean if you believe in God your faith should be broken.

I resent the constant drumbeat that I'm supposed to believe in evolution if I'm a good conservative. No.

Darwin was right.

They're already teaching one such story as if it were fact (evolution). Might as well put the other theory on the table, too.

Something like 2/3 of Americans think that we can pay off the nation's debt by printing more money and more than half think that they'll be able to retire off of their lottery ticket winnings.

Excuse me but many scientists question evolution. I wouldn't consider them ignorant. With as complicated and intricate life is and all that must sustain it, I find it much harder to believe it just happened on its own. Evolution requires more faith than I have.

[ 66% of Americans are in favor of using public tax dollars on teaching an unprovable, silly religious story? That there are that many ignorant people is pretty scary. ]

It takes faith to believe either story.. Creationism or various Evolutionary concepts.. Faith, a hop skip and jump over provable fact.. Fact, whatever "seems" logical to the faithful.. Many things seem logical but are not.. like the world is flat.. Socialism seems logical until its tested.. but even after a good testing proving its slavery by government many still want to believe is a good thing.. that takes faith too..

Humans love a good story.. and if that story pushs a few buttons in that story listener... FAITH will ensue.. Has nothing at all to do with logic.. it has to do with what do you have faith in.. Hell it takes faith to get into your car and go from point A to point B "hoping" you will actually get there, and back.. to point A.. many things could happen on that trip.. I have faith in many things, partial faith in others, and no faith in yet others.. Yet, I'm sometimes wrong about my choices..

Any that say they have "no" faith are lieing.. and are very probably blowing smoke up your keyster too..
Answer: Humans love a good story..

Yeah, as oppossed to the "proven" non-creationist theories. Give me a break - they both take faith. non-creatoinist theories try to hide behind science.

How, exactly, is this different from using their tax dollars to teach gay tolerance, or principles of Islam, or any of the dozens of silly things the liberals want taught? At least, this way, the religions conservatives get something for their money they are willing to pay for. Sounds like a supermajority to me, anyway. ;)
