One guy in a red shirt got hit with the chair. A huge black guy got a punch in on Artest and ESPN said he had credentials.
If Jackson attacked 3 fans, ring him up for about a years pay.
The game only had 45 seconds left. They got a full game. And buying a ticket doesn't give you the right to throw stuff at the opposing team.
Legal question. Does getting doused with a beer justify being punched. I say no.

First time poster here.
Listen, I'm a "red" conservative in a blue state (MI), so you can recognize my bias if need be.
First, the idiot Detroit fans throwing stuff (all of them if you can track them down) should be charged with some crime. They made Detroit look worse if that's possible. That said, there is no excuse for Ron Artest, who is one of the most unstable players in the NBA with a rap sheet of problems, to criminally assault someone. He laid on the scorer's table basically taunting everyone. The same goes for Steven Jackson and Jermaine O'Neal. Artest had to run at least 20-30 feet to throw his punch. Everyone there should be ashamed of themselves, but let's get real, it's not exactly fair to dump everything on the Detroit fans.
As an addendum, Ben Wallace (my favorite player), overreacted and he should be dealt with accordingly. He should get the third most serious punishment behind Jackson and Artest.

I'm also reminded of the great academic scandal at WEST POINT in the 40s, when Lombardi was there as an assistant(he wasn't involved or anything) There were other controversies with paid players or guys who needed money who played in a semipro league the day before they had to play a major game at Fordham.
Not as bad as this I just watched the video, 3 weeks ago about 15- 25 parents poured onto the field and started to brawl over a bad call, like I said my Daughters are cheerleaders and are close to the side lines. When this happened I lifted them over the fence and we went home. We most likely wont be back next year.
Artest punched a man with a beer in his hand. He obviously did not throw the beer. ESPN trying to spin this as all the fans fault. Artest attacked an innocent man.
I like the heavy dude with the Tayshaun Prince Jersey running on the floor challenging Artest then pushing him down. Then J. Oneal about takes his head off.

Almost everyone was wrong. The fan that got whacked by Artest was innocent.
They showed little kids in the stands. There was one little boy about 5 years old being comforted by his older brother. The little boy was crying and his older brother was holding him and stroking his head. What a good big brother. Poor kids.
What Wallace did is a semi-routine sort of oncourt punch that typically gets a 1-2 game suspension.
As best I can tell Jackson is the worst offender of all.
I don't know how lying on the table is a "taunt." To be honest I don't know what the heck it is.

But you only heard certain respectable hockey analysts express real shame at that.
Let's be honest, there's always an undercurrent here on FR and on other sites, when it comes to professional sports that are dominated(at least at star positions) by a certain kind of person...hint hint.
That's not to say there isn't a more general anti-athlete bias on the part of some, but I just find it hilarious that some of the same cats who love hockey, the same sport where a fan whose only crime was running on the ice had the #$*# beat out of him, are condemning "thugs" in basketball.
