My father smoked for 50 years. He's currently in the hospital fighting for his life against lung cancer.
No one thinks this can happen to them. Until it happens to you or a family member, you really have no idea the grief and destruction smoking causes.
It was his choice.
Well, life is full of risks. I don't rappel. I choose to smoke. I don't sky dive, I choose to smoke. I'm not obese, I choose to smoke. Life is full of choices, and not all of them are risk free. I just choose to smoke.
None of us are going to get out of this life alive. And when my number is up, it won't matter one bit if I ever smoked or not.
My mom smoked for at least 40 years and quit when she was in her sixties.
She lived into her 90's, healthy as a horse except for the Alzheimer's from which we all suffered for the last 15 years of her life. Those "extra" years she got were anything but "golden".
We can control our fate only to a very limited point.
Well using your logic...
Overeating causes obesity, which causes cancer and heart disease--so I guess we should ban fat and sugar. You know, make it illegal, because people can't decide on their own if they choose to partake.
Give me a break.
