Considering some of the responses on this thread... well you know.
Is it possible this car that crashed into the east gate (and an outbound car) was TRYING to crash into the base? Not just a bunch of illegals trying to flee the BP, or joyriders trying to get on Cops or carjackers trying to get to a garage.
Wondering how this will develop is all.

I can't believe the cops kept pursuing at these speeds. I wonder how populated the area is along this highway. There are some places out west that people drive 90 mph or more when they aren't trying to outrun cops. I have a feeling these were drug runners or criminals from Mexico --- it would surprise me if this turns out to be anyone from the military.

I agree, too. That it would surprise me if this involved anyone from the military (perps not victims).

What the police need to deal with these chases are armed helicopters. A machine-gun burst of 7.62 or .50 cal into the hood of a stolen car will end the chase real fast. It will also make the people in the passenger compartment less likely to give the arresting officers a hard timeI like the way you think.

"at speeds in excess of 100MPH."
No big deal. I cruised the autobahn in Germany this summer with my wife and daughter in a Opel Vector with a 1.7 liter engine in excess of 100 MPH. If one drives reasonably and if the road is good, driving at over 100 MPH is a good way to get from A to B.

You're right. I live in Tucson. When you get outside of Tucson, it's pretty desolate except for a few towns here and there...and lemme tell you..people think these roads are the autobahn or something because they haul butt on these roads. Plus we get alot of smugglers coming in from down there towards the border that almost always try to outrun the cops. Unfortunately, when they do hit a major highway like I-19 or I-10, it seems to cause even more of a kayass.
I'm sure this will be all over the local news tonight as well as the doctors murder. What a freaking way for our state to make the news. Blah!!

You know I have to agree with you. As you ask, was it a DUI: or maybe, I ask, was it drugs?
So the nutty speeder gets away and because as you say, he plows into a bunch of kids, or for that matter, any group.
Hell is raised by relatives of the dead and what you failed to say was the "Edwards", advocate of trial lawyers, would be at the doorsteps of the dead, and guess who would be sued--the police and municipality FOR NOT STOPPING THE "CRIMINAL."
Drivers who race from the police MUST BE STOPPED!!!!

Update.
Not on post, but at the intersection just outside the East Gate. Police used spike strips to stop a car with 5 illegals. They all died, 2 others died, 30 people injured, 14 of them critically, evidently the police did not get other traffic out of the way...

So they were illegals --- most likely running drugs or have been involved in murders back in Mexico and were running from the police for that reason. Too bad some innocent people had to be injured.

Thanks for the update... 30 people injured is pretty serious. Spike strips sounds like they were TRYING to stop them.
Praying for the injured...

You mean the spike strip threw the vehicle out of control? Oh boy, If this is the case and it was illegals, we wont hear the end of this.
They are suppose to only use the strips when it's safe to do so, so if the vehicle loses control, they don't kill or cause injury to others.

It will be, KGUN-9 is trying to get information based on what someone else said earlier on the thread.
My sources so far have been a police detective and an ER doctor.
