I couldn't disagree more.
These sweeps were successful. They should have doubled in size and frequency.
They should be instituted statewide in California and the other 49 states, as well.
Interior sweeps serve to discourage additional illegal immigration. They will not work alone, but only as one of many actions taken in a multifaceted plan to end illegal immigration.
What kind of an administration allows a criminal, illegal alien, minority to force our Nation's law enforcement agencies to terminate an effective program to apprehend them, against the wishes of that Nation's legal citizen majority?
The Republicans caved to the demands of these illegal alien criminals as bad or worse than I would have expected the Democrats to do.
Is it just me or does anyone else find it absolutely amazing that the U.S. government can track a cow born in Canada almost three years ago, right to the stall where she sleeps in the state of Washington, and determine exactly what that cow ate. They can also track her calves right to their stalls, and tell you what kind of
feed they ate. But the US Government is unable to locate 11 million illegal aliens wandering around in the country, including people that are trying to blow up important structures in the U.S. My solution is to give every illegal alien a cow as soon as they enter the country.
In the grand scheme of things, no they were not and they had absolutely no effect on illegal immigration.
But, you are correct in that they will not work, unless combined with other enforcement actions and that is exactly why they had zero effect.
The media inflated the reaction of the illegal immigrate community to make these sweeps look bad, and it worked.
