It works, generally. Although I think that the objectivist doctrine is occasionally misrepresented. It's in one of Ayn's books, (oh how that woman needed an editor) and I was rather surprised to find that what she actually said was not the current philosophy of the libertarian/objectivist movement.

Go figure.

A good editor could have reduced Atlas Shrugged to a more readable length and Anthem to a mere pamphlet. Ayn is not the last word on objectivism either.

I spoke more of the non-initation principle and how it relates to a persons ethics. If you don't START the violence, it does not necessarily preclude you from using violence to stop violence. Same for fraud and theft. Retaliation should be equal to the damage caused by the original crime though.

There were times when Ms. Rand came across like someone in dire need of some intimate contact....
