Don't mention term limits in here. These people believe that it is fine to have people in congress that are 100 years old. Look at the deadwood on the dem side, Kennedy, Byrd etc etc, been in government since the civil War. Disgusting.

I really don't think Planned Parenthood should be boasting about the fact they lay claim on Specter's victory. I think the real reasons are, name recognition, and what he does to get re-elected. I had no dog in the fight either, and if I had, I would have gone with Toomey. But, we have to look at the obvious reasons as to why he was elected. Most uninformed voters will go with the one they immediately recognize on the ballot, and then I read a story yesterday that 33% of the state's registered Republicans didn't even bother to show up at the polls. When you look at the final tally, and the number of voters registered as Republicans in PA (3.1 million), Toomey may have well upset Specter by 51-49 just on that thought alone.

Maybe many of those who didn't bother to show up, sat home and protested. Well, that's what happens when one doesn't bother to vote.

"My kid used to threaten to hold his breath until he died. It was a very "mature" way of handling things when he didn't get his way. (end/sarcasm)"

What does that even mean? So if we don't vote for your candidate we're immature children?

Yeah, you can't give us any reason to vote FOR your liberal senator, so instead you attack and insult us for not being as loose with our principles as you are.

Grow up.

If Specter helped block Bork, he gets a thumbs up from me.

What you will see is the failure of the Republicans to admit that they are now the moderate party. That has forced the Dems to the far (looney) left. If it weren't for our current WOT, the dems would have no complaints against GWB. He has successfully pushed their agenda, all the way to leeting Kennedy write the education bill. Hence the tagline.

I'll still be casting my vote in the interest of the President as a CIC.

Normy....

What fine gentlemanly language. It is very telling. Why not display all the other naughty words you know.

"Of COURSE they'll vote Republican. Where else are they going to go?"

- Karl Rove

Where, indeed...

It's a political Party, not a League of Starry-eyed ideologues.

I agree. What has 30 years of pigheadedness gotten the Libertarian Party? One state senator in Alaska in the mid-1970's?

If the Libertarians had attached themselves to one of the major parties, they would wield as much political party as any other faction. As it is, both parties can ignore them.

All political parties are coalitions of some kind. Just be glad Specter's in your coalition and not the other one.

"Good point, Luis. I hope we arent going to see a revival of the Im-not-voting-for-Bush-because-he-didnt-do-what-I-wanted-him-to-do crowd.."

We're already seeing the "Vote for who well tell you to, or else we'll label you an unappesable, right-wing, wackjob extremist!" crowd come to life.

The arrogance of you people is quite amazing. Luckily it'll also be your downfall. Nobody likes elitists except other elitists, so good luck with your message of: "Everyone is stupid but us!" I'm sure that'll do well for you on Novemeber 2nd.

Is this the same Karl Rove who was wondering in November of 2000 why 4-5 million fundamentalist Christians hadn't voted for George W. Bush?

"Montana has a senior Senator that is a Democrat, Max Baucus, turns into a Conservative when election time rolls around, and spends the rest of his time rubbing elbows with Hitlery's crowd."

And do you see anyone on FR defending him? I don't understand your point.

Those third parties aren't going to amount to anything. They keep boasting every 4 years they're around, but they run the same set of morons every 4 years. It's just like Ralph Nader, he just doesn't have the unction to just go away.

Arlen Specter may have helped Clarence Thomas get on the bench, but he is a hard core leftist who couldn't find it in his heart to convict Bill Clinton. He is not worthy to hold office, in my view. Bush and Santorum's campaigning undoubtedly made the difference.
