A Message To Conservatives: "Your Silence About Rush Limbaugh Is Deafening."

A NOTE TO MY FELLOW CONSERVATIVES:

Your silence regarding Rush Limbaugh is excruciating.

I like Rush, too, and given that he and I have the same employer, I'm not exactly improving my career prospects by being consistent. It's a bad habit I picked up after years of listening to, and admiring, Rush Limbaugh.

And if we learned the lessons of Limbaugh (individual responsibility and the rule of law), how can we now agree to "Clintonize" ourselves defending him? A drug addiction is one thing, but blackmail? He's allowed himself to be blackmailed for years--the same years he was rightly pounding the stuffing out of the Clintons? And now he claims he's the victim of a politically-motivated prosecution?

What's next: "The b**** set me up?"

Of all the disappointing decisions Rush has made, these last two are the most disheartening. Consider for a moment what blackmail is: An admission that you know what you're doing is wrong.

The decision to fork over the cash is just that--a decision. It can't be any less difficult to make that decision than to decide to, say, go to your lawyer, spill your guts and spend a month in detox at Charter. So why not choose to do the RIGHT thing?

But that's not what Rush chose to do. He chose instead to continue, for years, to do the wrong thing and then--after he was caught--blame the consequences on the vast, left-wing conspiracy. As Rush himself said very wisely and correctly when Jim Carville made the same argument defending President O.J., "It doesn't matter what Ken Starr's politics are if you're innocent."

Bill Clinton wasn't an innocent victim of political vendettas. He was a perjurer and obstructer of justice who blamed others for his own lack of character and its consequences.

Which means, my fellow conservatives, that Rush Limbaugh is....?

I'm sorry, I can't seem to hear you. It must be that deafening silence again.

So we can put you down as another one who sees a moral equivalence between smoking rope for kicks and an addiction to narcotics that your doctor suggested would help you. I guess there should be a legal equivalence too ... but where is it? When was the last time someone's medical records were subpoenaed for trial in a possession case for Rx or illegal drugs?

Or the alcoholic who started dinking for kicks ( yeah I know people only drink for the taste or nutritional value)

Very true BUT I have seen this more often in the case of ALCOHOLICS who are more numerous than non liquid drug addicts

I include alcoholics in the drug addicted category. There is little difference. In fact, it would be helpfull to the alcholic if we regulated it like we regulated controlled drugs. The threat of enforcement would reduce the number and severity of cases. Families and society would have better tools available to to bring a quicker end to the self destructive behavior.

A responsible parent wouldn't want their children buying booze, pot, or bongs.

Very true do we bring back Prohibition or do we legalize POT

It's far simpler then that...the harm is caused by knowingly breaking the law.

The harm, in this instance, is caused by an abuse of power, IMHO. When your principles are outlawed, your only reward is harm. Obey the law and your harm is the abandonment of principle; obey the principle and your harm is the violation of law.

Would you say the Christian martyrs caused their own harm? Or was it the Romans causing the harm?

"This is a BS article. Is this an attempt to "same as" legacy repair for clinton from bizarro land?"

It is an attempt by a cynical, opportunistic, no-talent nobody, like Al Frankin, to try and become a somebody by cashing in on Rush's name.

These types have found a niche market with the flaked and formed P.C. perfection police on the left and the right (two sides of the same coin. Hahaha)

Haven't read thru all the posts so this may have been covered, but I will opine nevertheless. First medical records ... Clinton never released his, although most presidents do ... the exception, another democ"rat", JFK.
The 4 doctor issue ... two were from the same Florida clinic, another was a CA doctor involved with Rush's hearing problem. The 4th I believe was a NY doctor ... not all that unusual. Rush disappointed a lot of regular listeners to his show, including myself. He had to know a requirement of what he does for a living dictates he live a blemish free lifestyle ... anything less and his critics will exploit the flaw ... which is exactly what is happening. Rush was stupid to give them that opening. However, Rush is a genius as a voice for conservatives ... no one (conservative or liberal) come even close to this man.

FYI. It may be hemp, but smoking rope doesn't give that much of a thrill :^)

A NOTE TO MY FELLOW CONSERVATIVES:
Your silence regarding Rush Limbaugh is excruciating.

And the silence from our "Conservatives" in Congress when Klinton was before them to be sentenced for his CRIMES was deafening...

And the silence from all DemonRAT's media when a DemonRAT is caught is DEAFENING!

So...I have come to the opinion...in the court of Public opinion, I will perform EXACTLY like all the DemonRATs do...why should there be a double-standard tolerated?!

We Conservatives play by the rules, fair and square...we are low-blowed and jumped at EVERY turn!

No more! Hit them HARD..hit them FREQUENTLY...and if we must...make stuff UP! (Although this REALLY isn't necessary...the truth is usually worse than anything we can invent when it comes to DemonRATs).

If the LIEberal intellegentsia wants a war...they have one! And we will fight it however WE deem appropriate...no more of this two sets of rules crap!

The fight is now joined..."and damned be he that cries 'Hold! Enough!'"

Did Bill Clinton come to the defense of people trying to fix court cases?

Bill Clinton did come to the defense of many, many people who had been convicted or in the process of being investigated for many, many criminal acts.

At least he did the last few days he was in office.

So just to be clear.........

In one case, a guy (or woman) undergoes surgery or otherwise experiences severe physical pain (e.g. back pain) and is prescribed pain killers by their physician.....eventually getting hooked on them.

In the other case, someone starts using heavy drugs (whatEVER their 'reason'......but don't tell me it isn't 'recreational'; I'm old enough to know better), and continues to use illegal drugs, often committing crimes to support the habit.

.....and you see no difference whatsoever?

I didn't see Rush on National T V wagging his finger at the camera saying, "I did not have drugs with that woman", while his other hand was on a Bible at a Grand Jury.

I'm in recovery, over 14 years, a recovering drug addict. Drugs effect everyone differently to some degree, as for me, I've done many different types of drugs, alcohol was for me, the worse drug I ever did. Alcohol is a drug, in order to have success in recovery we must abstain from using ALL drugs. I wonder if Rush still has his "adult beverages". For my cousin, nicotine was the worse drug he ever did, he died of lung cancer at 41. Nictoine is so powerful, this drug is not addressed when dealing with addicts, if an addict had to give up nicotine also, he'd never give up the others. A drug is a drug is drug, whether you smoke it, drink it, shoot it, no matter how you deliver it to your system.

I like Rush, but what he did was illegal. He needs to be prosecuted to the same extent anyone else would be (and I will state that I do not know what that extent usually is for this type of case).

I don't think we should argue that he is a political target unless we know for sure that he is being prosecuted much more strongly than others in similar circumstances. I also don't think we should make too light of the fact that he did break the law. I think we need to let this play out a little and not be too quick to defend or jump on Rush. In other words, we should not be willing to defend him simply b/c he is a conservative. We should always be on the side of what the law and what is right. We should not make the mistake made by the Rats in defending Clinton. With that said, I am withholding judgment until I know more.

Rush's problems have been cussed and discussed ad nauseum on FR - if it's not enough for you - sorry. Most of us are "commenting" with our radio listening habits. "Sounds" pretty loud to me.
