Girls as young as 13 can get the Pill without seeing a doctor for the first time. Teenagers below the legal age of consent will be able to walk into their local pharmacist and get the contraceptive tablets over the counter. The scheme, which is being introduced in a bid to reduce soaring underage pregnancy rates, will mean young girls can go on the Pill without informing their parents. But critics warn that it is effectively giving teenagers a license to have more sex, so will just encourage greater promiscuity.

Baron Hill has represented the 9th District of Indiana in the U.S. House of Representatives for 10 of the last 12 years. During that time, Hill has been a part of the Blue Dog Coalition, a group of Democrats who consider themselves to be moderate-to-conservatives on many issues, especially fiscal ones. While Hill may have had Blue Dog credentials in the past, over the last couple of years he has revealed his true colors. Along with the liberal wing of the Democratic Party, Hill has voted for the failed stimulus package, the healthcare reform act and the cap-and-trade energy bill....

It’s a very subtle ploy, that statement, ”already making more money than most will earn in a lifetime.” Does it make you feel good? Glad for those billionaires, and proud of their enterprenurial spirit? Or does it make you feel slightly envious that these young kids will make more than you’ll ever see in your life? Yeah, me too. The ongoing repetition (only slightly unpalatable in single instances) permeates society these days. It’s in the press, on television, online… all the time. Captialism is evil; tax the rich; make the rich pay their fair share; they’ll make more than you’ll...

A call to action for all taxed enough Patriots At Wednesday night’s debate Todd Young vigorously asserted his support for the Federal Department of Education and has previously stated he supports increased funding. The debate on the Department of Education will be the starting point for the future debate on who is conservative and what the role of the Federal government is. As things begin to crystallize heading toward 2012, the battle within the GOP between the establishment moderates/liberals and the Conservative grassroots cannot be avoided. Quite simply everyone must pick a side and be sure where they stand on...

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee’s attorneys sent Simon & Schuster a letter Thursday, hinting that the publisher may have violated several campaign finance laws that prohibit in-kind contributions by corporations by posting on its website a promotional video for a book penned by three top House Republicans. At issue: the publishing house’s promotion of “Young Guns: A New Generation of Conservative Leaders” by Reps. Eric Cantor of Virginia, Kevin McCarthy of California and Paul Ryan of Wisconsin. The DCCC’s attorneys at Perkins Coie sent the New York-based publisher a letter saying it’s improper for a corporation to host a video...

At a quick glance, Young, the Republican suitor for the seat currently held by Democrat Baron Hill, appears to have all the qualities of a promising politician. He is a 38-year-old father of four and a Marine-turned deputy prosecutor with television-ready good looks and natural charisma. But Young is more about ideas than image. During a recent interview in his spare campaign office near Bloomington's downtown, he discussed policy and philosophy with a wonkish zeal. This should come as no surprise since his education includes degrees from the Naval Academy and the Universities of both Chicago and London. Because of...

The Islamic Republic Is Not Iran By Amil Iman We just don't get it. The Left in America is screaming to high heaven that the mess we are in, in Iraq and the war on terrorism has been caused by the right-wing and that George W. Bush, the so-called "dim-witted cowboy," has created the entire mess. The truth is the entire nightmare can be traced back to the liberal democratic policies of the leftist Jimmy Carter, who created a firestorm that destabilized our greatest ally in the Muslim world, the shah of Iran, in favor of a religious fanatic, the...

President Obama has cast his role in the civil-rights movement as part of the “Joshua Generation” – those who were tapped to lead the movement after their elders journeyed to the Promised Land. On ABC/Washington Post’s “Top Line” today, we asked Andrew Young -- a legendary civil rights leader who was a close aide to the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. -- how that analogy holds up a year and a half into the Obama presidency. “If you'll remember your Bible, when Joshua and Caleb crossed into the Promised Land, it was not easy,” said Young, a former UN ambassador,...

In fact, I shouldn’t have been here for most of my life. Friday is June 18. On June 18 exactly 50 years ago, I was returning home from two weeks’ annual active duty in the Army Reserve. It was peacetime, so I never heard a shot fired in anger − unless you count people at the rifle range who were irritated by their low scores. But I still came within inches of being killed in the line of duty. I was driving north on U.S. 101 near Camp Roberts, when an elderly couple entered the freeway driving south. The problem...

A congressional ethics office asked the Justice Department on Thursday to review evidence it found suggesting that companies are providing campaign cash to lawmakers for no-bid contracts, and consider a criminal probe. The Office of Congressional Ethics investigation focused on companies that were clients of the once powerful lobby firm the PMA Group and sought earmarked contracts from lawmakers who sat on the House Appropriations committee. The referral was an end-run around the House ethics committee, which earlier this year declined to investigate the matter as the OCE recommended and said it found no substantiation that lawmakers were engaged...

The Associated Press reports that young adults will face higher premiums under ObamaCare: Beginning in 2014, most Americans will be required to buy insurance or pay a tax penalty. That’s when premiums for young adults seeking coverage on the individual market would likely climb by 17 percent on average, or roughly $42 a month, according to an analysis of the plan conducted for The Associated Press. The analysis did not factor in tax credits to help offset the increase. The higher costs will pinch many people in their 20s and early 30s who are struggling to start or advance their...

Young people will need to carry more of the burden of health care under the new health overhaul law. The new law limits an industry practice of charging older customers more.

CHICAGO (AP) - Health insurance premiums for young adults are expected to rise about 17 percent once they're required to buy insurance four years from now. That estimate is from an analysis by Rand Health. Young people will need to carry more of the burden of health care under the new health overhaul law. The new law limits an industry practice of charging older customers more. Even so, the pluses could outweigh the minuses. Some 2 million people under age 26 should qualify for coverage under their parents' health plans. And Medicaid expansion will insure 9 million more young adults.
