Under a law signed on Wednesday, pro-life pregnancy centers in Hawaii will be forced to tell patients about free abortions provided by the state. And if they don't, they could face fines up to $1,000 dollars for a repeated offense. There are currently five pro-life centers in the state. "This clinic does not provide abortion services or abortion referrals. Only ultrasounds performed by qualified healthcare professionals and read by licensed clinicians should be considered medically accurate," reads the mandatory notification the centers will have to provide patients with. "Hawaii has public programs that provide immediate free or low-cost access to...

It’s true that the first day of your period is usually the absolute worst. It’s different for everyone, but cramps, fatigue, and irritability are pretty common, and for some women, they can be crippling. That’s what the women of Culture Machine say, at least, in a new video announcing the company’s plan to give women the first day of their period off. Culture Machine is a digital media company in Mumbai, which makes this all the more progressive. In rural parts of India, women are often sent out to menstruation huts to wait our their period. The huts are very...

Should we be moving towards a plant-based diet for our bodies and our consciences? It's a hotly contested issue and often an incredibly personal one. For some, it's a resounding 'yes' and many are working to reduce their animal intake – approaching Meat-free Monday with gusto. But now experts are warning that women could be putting themselves at risk of anaemia (iron deficiency) by shunning red meat. More than a quarter of women (27%) aged 19 to 64 don't get enough iron, according to the government's latest National Diet and Nutrition Survey. One in four people surveyed reported they have...

In 2013, one storyline of the raucous and unpredictable Democratic mayoral primary was Christine Quinn’s bid to become the first woman elected Mayor of New York City. Then the City Council Speaker and the early frontrunner in the race, Quinn largely avoided talking about that history-making potential. Running as the continuity-with-change candidate based on her close working relationship with outgoing Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Quinn finished third in a crowded primary field behind the eventual winner of the election, Bill de Blasio. As de Blasio seeks reelection this year, he appears set to face Republican Nicole Malliotakis in the general election...

RUSH: “Women with master’s degrees and doctorates are freezing their eggs because there are not enough educated men in the world, according to a new study. Researchers interviewed 150 women who were having their eggs frozen at eight clinics in the U.S. and Israel between June 2014 and August 2016. More than 80 percent of participants had college degrees.” Some have master’s, some have MD, PhD. And the lead author of the study, a professor at Yale, Marcia Inhorn, said, “There is a major gap. They are literally missing men. There are not enough college graduates for them. In simple...

The core principle of the feminist movement is equality, but contemporary feminism seems to have lost touch with it, straitjacketing itself into a ‘Carnival of Outrage’. Feminism advocates freedom, but it seldom encourages the responsibility that comes with it. In the patriarchal system, men are trained to understand the risks and dangers of the world and prime themselves to face them, as they are also victims of assault and abuse. Under the same system, women are never conditioned for the ‘big bad world’. But as feminism aims to break patriarchy, it does not equip women to face the challenges of...

A dearth of marriagable men has left an “oversupply” of educated women taking desperate steps to preserve their fertility, experts say. The first global study into egg freezing found that shortages of eligible men were the prime reason why women had attempted to take matters into their own hands.

On Joy Reid’s MSNBC show this morning, guest Tamara Holder—who Reid, ironically, billed as an “equal rights attorney and advocate”—mocked the women in Donald Trump’s life. Holder was upset that they had failed to condemn the president over his tweets directed at Mika Brzezinski and Joe Scarborough. Said Holder: “I think the women in Donald Trump’s life probably have smaller minds than his small hands . . . he has continued to surround himself, Donald Trump, with very, very, weak-minded women, who are afraid of him.” View the video here.

Headline: “Clinical Psychologist: Women ‘Hate’ Harmless Men.” You know, every so often, folks, these stories cross our proverbial desk here. It seems like an easy fix. Traditionally male factory work is drying up. The fastest-growing jobs in the American economy are those that are often held by women. Why not get men to do them? The problem is that notions of masculinity die hard, in women as well as men. It’s not just that men consider some of the jobs that will be most in demand — in health care, education and administration — to be unmanly or demeaning, or worry that they require emotional skills they don’t have. So do some of their wives, prospective employers and women in...

Sunday on CNN’s “Reliable Sources,” former daytime talk show host Phil Donahue said President Donald Trump’s rallies were “produced” to show off the “really cute white girls.” Donahue said, “He gets on the airplane, a big old airplane, flies anywhere in this country and four cars meet him, all black limousines. He goes to the nearest, largest venue in that area and sells out. Not an empty seat. Walks in — this is fascinating me — the other night at his rally, there were four or five really cute white girls. There are black people at those rallies, but you...
